New York City Opera has announced that it will produce the world premiere of the award-winning jazz composer/pianist Ted Rosenthal's DEAR ERICH.  This new jazz opera, to be co-produced with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, will open Wednesday, January 9 and will play four performances only through Sunday, January 13 at the Edmond J. Safra Hall at 36 Battery Place, in lower Manhattan.

Just last night, Manhattan Theatre Club presented its 2018 Fall Benefit, honoring legendary three-time Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters. Peters has been a longtime member of the MTC family, since she co-starred with Christine Baranski in Sally and Marsha, directed by Lynne Meadow in 1982, at which time she joined the MTC Board.

FX today announced the additional cast that will appear in Fosse/Verdon, an eight episode limited series from award-winning producers Thomas Kail, Steven Levenson, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Joel Fields. Production on the series, now officially titled Fosse/Verdon, is currently underway in New York City ahead of its premiere on FX in Spring 2019.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) presents How to Write a Musical That Works, part 1: The World and The Want, the first workshop in a 3-part series. One of the programs in TRU Beginnings: Opportunities for Early Development of New Work, it will take placeon Sunday, December 9, 2018.

Salty Brine announces a new cabaret-theater hybrid, You'll Never Get to Heaven, as the latest installment in his series, The Living Record Collection. You'll Never Get to Heaven is inspired by Laura Nyro's Eli and the Thirteenth Confession. The show will perform at Pangea (178 2nd Avenue) on November 29 and December 13. Doors will open at 6:00pm with shows beginning at 7:00pm on both dates.

Just last night, Roundabout Theatre Company presented a special one-night-only Benefit Musical Performance of My One and Only, the award-winning musical comedy by Peter Stone and Timothy S. Mayer with music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin. The event was led by Sutton Foster ('Edythe Herbert') and Gavin Creel ('Captain Billy Buck Chandler'), with Heidi Blickenstaff ('Mickey'), Ted Louis Levy ('Mr. Magix'), Michael Park ('Prince Nicolai') and Lance Roberts ('Rev. J.D. Montgomery').

Manhattan Theatre Club will present its 2018 Fall Benefit, honoring three-time Tony Award recipient Bernadette Peters, on Monday evening, November 19 at 583 Park Avenue (63rd Street and Park Avenue).

Last night was a momentous occasion at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's Yiddish language production of Fiddler on the Roof, which recently extended its run through December 30 to meet the high demand for tickets, celebrated its 100th sold out performance. National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF), the longest consecutively producing theatre in the United States and the world's oldest continuously operating Yiddish theatre company, announced the stellar cast for the free, world premiere staged reading of Paddy Chayefsky's 1959 Tony Award-nominated play The Tenth Man, newly translated into Yiddish by Eleanor Reissa and Harvey Varga, on Tuesday, November 13 at 7 pm at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, Edmond J. Safra Plaza, 36 Battery Pl. NY, NY 10280. All tickets were gone in a few hours.

Cabaret is a 1966 musical with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by Joe Masteroff. The original Broadway production became such a hit it inspired several productions and revivals in New York and premiered in London's West End in 1968. Cabaret, the film, was produced in 1972, directed by Bob Fosse, and starred Liza Minnelli, Michael York, and Joel Grey. The film is particularly known for Liza Minnelli's rendition of 'Cabaret', a song she would come to sing in concert halls worldwide. It became her trademark.
