National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish ended its run at the Museum of Jewish Heritage yesterday, December 30. To conclude the run, Joel Grey, who directed the acclaimed production, took an evocative New Year's Eve shot of the cast standing with the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in the distance.

On the heels of its spectacular, sold-out run of the Yiddish language presentation of Fiddler on The Roof, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) has announced the upcoming Winter-Spring 2019 season, which will include the civil-rights era inspired concert Soul to Soul, restored gems from the golden age of the Yiddish theater in From the Yiddish Rialto to the Silver Screen and the world premiere of the jazz opera Dear Erich, being presented with the New York City Opera.

The ASCAP Foundation honored R&B and pop icon Valerie Simpson with its George M. Cohan Friars Foundation Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Melinda Wagner with The ASCAP Foundation Masters Award at the 2018 ASCAP Foundation Honors tonight. The ceremony took place at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall, Broadway at 60th Street, in New York City. The ASCAP Foundation 2018 scholarship recipients were also recognized in an evening brimming with talent and inspiration.

With the help of the acclaimed bassist Ben Allison, Raven O stirs up his witch's brew of sultry song and restless commentary, not once but twice, in back-to-back shows at 8pm and 10:30pm. Both shows are generously priced: $125 for the early show and $165 for the late show. In both cases, tickets include a delicious 3-course dinner, and a half-bottle of Cava per person. A separate a la carte menu will be served in the front dining room, independent of the performance, from 5:00 pm until midnight. Join us in either room for our Midnight Countdown! On Monday night, Bette Midler attended the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's presentation of Yiddish Fiddler on the Rood.

Actor. Writer. Lyricist. Director. Mark Waldrop has done it all. His acting career started on Broadway with appearances in Hello, Dolly, The Grand Tour, Evita, and La Cage Aux Folles. Then there were stints directing Bette Midler, collaborating on Howard Crabtree's When Pigs Fly and Whoop-Dee-Doo, and shepherding Bea Arthur's one woman show to Broadway!

THE GAME, a new musical with book and lyrics by Eric Kornfeld and music by John McDaniel, will be presented in a private industry presentation, Thursday, December 6 at 3:30pm and Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11am. Presentations will be held at Pearl Studios.

The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's Off-Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, directed by Academy and Tony Award winner Joel Grey, will be releasing a cast album. The cast recording, released by Time Life Music and distributed byWarner Music Group, will be available in 2019, with an official date to be announced before the show transfers to Off-Broadway's Stage 42 in February.

It's a hit! Broadway vets, Danette Holden, who was last seen in New York City in the acclaimed Off Broadway production of Cagney, the Musical and Kevin Csolak, currently in Tina Fey's Mean Girls on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre hosted Hunterdon's Stangl Stage Holiday Cabaret, Shine On, to high acclaim this past Sunday. Produced by LBC Talent, NYC the event featured multigenerational homegrown Hunterdon County talent making their mark on the world stage on Broadway, in the music industry, in film and television.

BroadwayWorld reported last week the additional cast that will appear in Fosse/Verdon, an eight episode limited series from award-winning producers Thomas Kail, Steven Levenson, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Joel Fields. Production on the series, now officially titled Fosse/Verdon, is currently underway in New York City ahead of its premiere on FX in Spring 2019.
