At a gathering last week of local dignitaries, RUBICON THEATRE, Ventura’s non-profit professional theatre company, shared progress and plans for a new community gathering space at the theatre.

National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene will present a seven-week return engagement of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, the revelatory and award-winning production of one of the world's most beloved musicals. The production, a New York Times Critic's Pick, will play a strictly limited seven-week return engagement from November 13, 2022 to January 1, 2023 Off-Broadway at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

Lane and Bonnie Comley hosted a celebration at their East Hampton estate for Bay Street Theater, honoring Mercedes Ruehl and Harris Yulin. Ruehl and Yulin were honored with Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center For The Arts's Joel Grey Lifetime Achievement Award as actors and for their many years of support for the East End's arts community.

RUBICON THEATRE COMPANY, Ventura’s non-profit professional theatre company, is emerging from the pandemic shutdown by reimagining underutilized space in the theatre. The building is at 1006 E Main Street is owned by Rubicon, and has served as home for artistry of the organization for 24 years.

Anthony Rapp is a legendary performer in the theater industry, and fans are inspired by the iconic roles he originated in popular shows like RENT, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, and If/Then. In 2016, Anthony helped his long-time friend and Mischief Management’s CEO and Founder, Melissa Anelli, launch the first-ever BroadwayCon theater convention as its co-creator. The three-day annual event is in its seventh year, and was held in-person for the first time since the pandemic on July 8-10, 2022 at The New Yorker Hotel and Manhattan Center.

Broadway dance legends united for the 2022 Chita Rivera Awards, which honored outstanding choreography, featured dancers, and ensemble in shows on Broadway and Off Broadway, as well as outstanding choreography in film that opened pre-Covid as well as in the 2021-2022 season. The downstairs Sandra and Jordan Laby Hall has been fitted out with an industry-standard gallery hanging system, offering an opportunity for visual arts to play a new and substantive role at Rubicon.

Dancers over 40 presented a sold out one-night-only special event: A Toast to Harvey - Celebrating the Life and Career of Harvey Evans on Wednesday, June 22nd, 6 – 9PM at The Triad Theatre. The evening was hosted by Broadway legend, Lee Roy Reams and featured performances and remembrances by Jim Brochu, Anita Gillette, Kurt Peterson, Marianne Tatum, Penny Worth and Tony Yazbeck.

In keeping with the mission of the Chita Rivera Awards, nominators considered outstanding choreography, featured dancers, and ensemble in shows on Broadway and Off Broadway, as well as outstanding choreography in film that opened pre-Covid as well as in the 2021-2022 season.

At long last, women playwrights take center stage at the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene. The Yiddish Women Playwrights Series, scheduled to proceed on June 21, 2022 with a FREE streamed production of Kadya Molodowsky's Ale Fentster Tsu der Zun (All Windows Face the Sun), highlights revolutionary, avant garde, feminist works from writers whose contributions to the Yiddish theatre have long been overlooked, ignored, and locked away.

Complete casting announced for the Harvey Evans Tribute includes Jim Brochu, Anita Gillette, Joel Grey, Kurt Peterson, Marianne Tatum, Penny Worth and Tony Yazbeck, directed by Lawrence Leritz. Tony nominated Broadway star Tony Yazbeck will join A Toast to Harvey - Celebrating the Life and Career of Harvey Evans on Wednesday, June 22nd, from 6 - 9 PM at The Triad Theatre.

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the big screen classic film Cabaret, The Ridgefield Playhouse will be offering two screenings of this 1972 American Musical Drama on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 3:00pm and 7:00pm.
