Birdland Jazz Club will present vocalist Lorna Dallas in Home Again for one night only as part of the "Broadway at Birdland" concert series, on Monday, February 26, 2018 @7pm.

Celia Berk will be performing LOVE IS JUST SAND at The Beach Cafe on February 3rd, 2018 at 8:15pm. The 2017 recipient of the BroadwayWorld Cabaret Award for Best Female Vocalist, Celia Berk is reuniting with fellow BroadwayWorld Winners Musical Director Alex Rybeck and Director Jeff Harnar for this show. Celia has released two critically acclaimed albums, garnered awards for her two solo cabaret shows at the Metropolitan Room, and made memorable appearances at Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center and The Town Hall. The results are in for the sixth annual BroadwayWorld New York Cabaret Awards! BroadwayWorld would like to extend congratulations to all of this year's winners and nominees in the 15 categories.

Voting will run through December 31, 2017. Additionally, five Editor's Choice Awards recipients, including Cabaret Personality of the Year, will be announced after voting has completed. Following a review of the ballots, winners will be announced officially in January 2018!

The 2017 awards honor productions which opened between October 1, 2016 and September 30, 2017. Nominations were completely reader-submitted and after the nomination period ended October 31, BroadwayWorld's local editors proofed the list for eligibility and errors.

This past March, at 2017's MAC Awards, honoring the best of cabaret in New York over the past season, as in most years, there were five nominees for Female Vocalist: Celia Berk, Sally Darling, Meg Flather, Josephine Sanges, and Lisa Viggiano. It's not particularly important, in this case, who won. (Flather did.) If their shared story met the usual expectations, it would've ended there and each nominee would've gone on her own way to do her next big thing. You'll be happy to hear their story defies those expectations.

The Mabel Mercer Foundation announced this week that Adela and Larry Elow have established a $50,000 endowment fund, created specifically to 'encourage teenagers to learn and perform The Great American Songbook, as composed between the years 1900-1970.'

'MY SHIP is built up of songs composed and published in 1941. 76 years ago these songs were comforting the hearts and minds of women from that time: young brides married to soldiers headed off to fight in WW2, conventional house wives raising children alone, factory workers like Rosie the Riveter, and the entertainers passionately at work to raise the moral of AMERICA through this beautiful music.'

On November 21, Celia Berk, Sally Darling, Meg Flather, Josephine Sanges and Lisa Viggiano reprise TOGETHER: 2017 Cabaret Award-Nominated Vocalists, whose spring and summer performance's benefiting Trinity Place Shelter and #TheEmpathyInitiative of The Seeing Place Theatre, were warmly received. Proceeds from their upcoming November show will benefit The Meatloaf Kitchen (founded by University Community Social Services) serving dinners to hungry New Yorkers every Saturday since 1982. Efforts to support to a soup kitchen during the season of thanks felt so right to the TOGETHER team.

A Celebration of this extraordinary man's life was organized by The Mabel Mercer Foundation and Victor's wife Marilyn Cole Lownes. It was quite fitting, since Victor Lownes and Hugh Hefner bonded at the beginning of Playboy Magazine because of their love of the cabaret artist Mabel Mercer.
