Wilbury Theatre Group has announced the extension of the Rhode Island premiere of Tony-Award winner for Best Play (2016) The Humans by Stephen Karam, directed by Josh Short. Now running through December 18, the production features Jim O'Brien, Jeanine Kane, Rachel Dulude, Jessie March, Dave Rabinow, & Carol Varden.

Judith Lynn Stillman's Women Trailblazers in Music takes us on a journey with tunes and tales by - and about - pioneering women composers who were all but expunged from history. The film, premiering at Rhode Island College and commissioned by Artists & Activists Productions and FirstWorks, features stories rarely heard and music not often played.

One doesn't usually seek out sequels at live theatre, and when Ibsen finished his masterpiece A Doll's House in 1879, one can only assume he thought the interesting part of the story was over.  So the pressure on this play to prove why it should even exist is almost like another character watching from the wings.  Thankfully, what Lucas Hnath has written is a smart and occasionally hilarious play that justifies its creation, and ties the hands of almost all characters equally.  There are plenty of satisfying revelations, and Gamm's excellent cast makes this a show not to be missed.

It's been 15 years since Norwegian house wife Nora Helmer slammed the door on her husband, three children and the rest of married life in Ibsen's sober 19th-century drama. Now she's back in Hnath's darkly comic Broadway darling.

The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre (The Gamm) opens its 35th season with the Rhode Island premiere of A Doll's House, Part 2 by Lucas Hnath (Hillary and Clinton, The Christians). Fred Sullivan, Jr., who directed Henrik Ibsen's classic A Doll's House at The Gamm in 2011, returns to the helm with Jeanine Kane (Hannah in The Night of the Iguana, Season 34) and Steve Kidd (Austin in True West, Season 34) reprising their roles as Nora and Torvald.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) is pleased to continue its Common Access Initiative as part of its 24th season of "Free Shakespeare on the Common." Cymbeline runs July 17 - August 4 on the Boston Common. CSC is committed to keeping theatre accessible - financially, geographically, and artistically - as well as inclusive for patrons of all abilities. CSC has offered at least one American Sign Language (ASL) performance nearly every season since its founding in 1996, and in recent years has had the opportunity to meaningfully expand its disability access programming and offerings.

TrinityRep's Macbeth is full of surprises

Trinity Repertory Company presents Macbeth. Directed by Curt Columbus. Performances run January 31 - March 3. 

THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA is among Tennessee Williams' least-know plays, but still one that resulted in over 300 performances on Broadway and a 1964 film version starring Richard Burton and directed by John Huston. Unlike Williams' more famous works, it's likely that audiences don't know much about this play going into it, and while there are some interesting characters and poignant lines, it becomes easy to see why this play is not often produced. The double whammy of a tedious and heavy-handed script paired with performances that beg for more nuance leave this first production in The Gamm's new Warwick location an unfortunate slog.

The production marks the theater's debut in its new home at 1245 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick, RI. Considered Williams' last great play, The Night of the Iguana follows defrocked Episcopal clergyman Rev. T. Lawrence Shannon and fellow guests at a dilapidated resort on the Mexican coast -- all seeking human connection while battling their personal demons.

The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre (The Gamm) closes its 2017-18 season with William Shakespeare's romantic comedy As You Like It. Chock full of word play, music, clowns, and a timely message, As You Like It is the perfect play to close Season 33 and mark The Gamm's final show in Pawtucket. The theater will reopen in September in its new home at 1245 Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick.

Pawtucket's Gamm Theatre opens its season with Oscar Wilde's comedic masterwork THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, and the company delivers an utterly superlative production. Everything about this EARNEST is absolutely right in every way. The Gamm's cast is magnificent, the stagecraft of the finest quality, and the direction flawless. If there is one theatrical experience not to be missed in Rhode Island this year, the Gamm's EARNEST is it.

KING ELIZABETH makes for wonderful theater. The narrative is equally enjoyable and thought-provoking, the cast impeccable -- this production is a crowning achievement for The Gamm.
