Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT Closes The Gamm's Season

The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre (The Gamm) closes its 2017-18 season with William Shakespeare's romantic comedy As You Like It. Chock full of word play, music, clowns, and a timely message, As You Like It is the perfect play to close Season 33 and mark The Gamm's final show in Pawtucket. The theater will reopen in September in its new home at 1245 Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick.

Gamm Artistic Director Tony Estrella and Gamm Resident Scholar Rachel Walshe co-direct this beguiling exploration of traditional gender roles, class, friendship and romance. The production features Nora Eschenheimer as Rosalind, Shura Baryshnikov in her Gamm debut as Orlando, and Gamm Resident Actor Jeanine Kane as melancholy Jaques. "As You Like It is the peerless theatrical masterwork about love and freedom--specifically the freedom to love on your own terms and embrace its myriad complexities in the form of desire, compassion, loyalty, devotion, kindness and obsession," said Gamm Artistic Director Tony Estrella. "Helen Terry, the great British actor and artistic director of Shakespeare's Globe puts it best: 'What Rosalind is exploring is [the question] how to be? The answer is AS YOU LIKE IT.'"

As You Like It runs from April 19-May 27 at The Gamm Theatre, 172 Exchange St., Pawtucket, RI. Tickets are $44, $52 and $60; preview performances (April 19-22) are $33.
