An Early Music New York season will cover a lot of ground, geographical as well as historical. The trajectory of EM/NY's 2022-2023 season describes a zig-zagging arc that originates in Italy in the early baroque period, and as the century progresses travels east to Austria and middle Europe, north to Germany, west to France and north to England.

ATYS Comes to Grand Théâtre de Genève in February

BWW Feature: Streaming Opera For The Week Of 8/26

Mid afternoon, our tour group meets on the Magic Opera Flying Carpet at Los Angeles Airport (LAX).  We watch LA Opera’s digital short entitled Gallup, or Na'nízhoozhí in Navajo. The scene incorporates the high desert New Mexico landscape and the city famed for Navajo jewelry. Tour members should wear the  biggest and best turquoise they have for the show!

Miller Theatre's Early Music Series Continues With New York Baroque Incorporated

The talented New York Baroque Incorporated, makes its Miller debut with a program reflecting the life of Jean-Baptiste Lully, the godfather of French opera. NYBI explores works shaped by the style, structure, and spectacle of his music as well as his multicultural upbringing, with music by Mondonville, Telemann, Muffat, and Handel.

Lincoln Center Extends Mostly Mozart Festival Music Director Louis Langrée's Contract Through 2023

On the eve of the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra's (MMFO) opening performances at the 2019 Mostly Mozart Festival, Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss has announced that Lincoln Center has extended the contract of Renee and Robert Belfer Music Director Louis Langree through the summer of 2023. Langree has held the position since 2003, fostering the Festival Orchestra's profile as an established ensemble and steadfast presence on the Lincoln Center campus, furthering its scope of repertoire beyond music of the classical era, and heightening its reputation as one of America's premier chamber orchestras. Langree made his Mostly Mozart Festival debut in 1998 and began his tenure as music director in 2003. 2023 will be his twenty-first season in the role. American Express is the lead sponsor of the Mostly Mozart Festival.

THE DAY Comes To Jacob's Pillow, July 31

Jacob's Pillow presents the highly-anticipated world premiere of THE DAY, featuring world renowned cellist Maya Beiser and legendary dancer Wendy Whelan with choreography by the groundbreaking postmodern dance artist Lucinda Childs and music by Pulitzer Prize-winning David Lang in the Doris Duke Theatre, July 31-Aug 4. Co-commissioned by Jacob's Pillow, the multidisciplinary work explores memory, life's journey, resilience, and survival of the soul through the shared language of music and dance. 

Juilliard Historical Performance Celebrates 10th Anniversary With 2019-20 Season

Juilliard Historical Performance, the school's graduate-level, full-tuition scholarship program for early music enters its 10th anniversary season with a full schedule of concerts and tours. Its primary period-instrument ensemble, Juilliard415, will be working with distinguished artists Paul Agnew, Kristian Bezuidenhout, William Christie, Richard Egarr, Nicholas McGegan, Robert Mealy, Rachel Podger, and Masaaki Suzuki, and making his Juilliard415 debut, Pablo Heras-Casado. The season also features international appearances in Paris at the Philharmonie de Paris and in Germany at the Gottingen Handel Festival as well as a second tour of New Zealand.

Opera News Announces Recipients of the 13th Annual Opera News Awards

OPERA NEWS Editor in Chief F. Paul Driscoll today announced the recipients of the 13th Annual OPERA NEWS Awards. This year's honorees—conductorWilliam Christie, mezzo-soprano Fiorenza Cossotto, tenor Vittorio Grigolo, soprano Hei-Kyung Hong, and soprano Sonya Yoncheva — will be celebrated at a black-tie gala celebration on April 22nd, 2018 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Renowned opera singer and recitalist Stephanie Blythe will be the special musical guest.
