Brooklyn Film Festival Announces Lineup for 2019 Edition

Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF) announces today the film lineup for its 22nd edition: THE GATHERING. Over the course of the 10-day festival, BFF presents film programs at Wythe Hotel, nearby returning venue Windmill Studios in Greenpoint and five additional screening venues throughout Brooklyn. To open the festival on Friday, May 31st will be the World Premiere of Claudia Myer's Above the Shadows starring Olivia Thirlby, Alan Ritchson, Jim Gaffigan and Megan Fox.

Mipso Announce Fall 2018 Tour

North Carolina's acclaimed indie-Americana darlings Mipso head back on the road this fall, hitting select markets in the Rocky Mountains and northeast for the first time since the April release of their new album, Edges Run. The tour kicked off last week in Nashville with an official showcase at the 19th annual AMERICANAFEST - which NPR Music highlighted as a “Best of AMERICANAFEST” - and stops in 20 cities over the next two months. The season culminates in early November with a short run of shows in the band's home region to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the band's 2013 debut release, Dark Holler Pop. Mipso & Friends: Dark Holler Pop Revisited hosts five shows in North Carolina and Virginia and features very special guests during the run including 10 String Symphony, Chandler Holt (Chatham County Line), Lula Wiles, and Kate Rhudy. Production on Disney's “Mulan,” a live-action adaptation of the studio's 1998 animated feature, has begun. The film will shoot on locations in New Zealand and China and will open in U.S. theaters on March 27, 2020.
Utah Film Center Celebrates 15 Years of DAMN THESE HEELS

Utah Film Center announced today the films selected for the 15th annual Damn These Heels Film Festival and new elements to the festival for film lovers, filmmakers and all storytellers. Damn These Heels will run July 20 - 22, 2018 at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center and is a festival for all that explores LGBTQ issues, ideas, and art through independent, documentary, and foreign films from around the world. Passes and tickets are now on sale on the Utah Film Center's website. Additional titles will be announced on the website leading up to the Festival.

We're excited for the New Works Festival! The plays were written by Metro students, predominately from my beginning and advanced theatre classes. Once completed, the plays were read by a group of 9 readers. The readers consisted of one of my advanced theatre students and a group of artists from Brelby (including Brian and Shelby). The plays were selected, began rehearsing in January, and will premiere at Metropolitan Arts Institute at the end of the month.
