As BroadwayWorld reported last week, Jeremy Jordan has been hinting at a return to Broadway via Twitter. On Friday afternoon the actor tweeted the lyrics, 'It's a tune you can hum...', presumably an allusion to the song, 'Broadway Here I Come' from the NBC musical television series, 'Smash.' Jordan debuted the Joe Iconis tune on the second season of the show.
SKIPTOWN PLAYHOUSE, is pleased to announce casting and performance schedule of THE LAST FIVE YEARS, the hit Off-Broadway musical comedy by Jason Robert Brown. Scheduled to play July 19 through August 3rd, 2018, THE LAST FIVE YEARS will star Sasha Travis (Dinner with the Savages) and Vincenzo Carubia (Co-Founder, Skiptown Playhouse) at the new East Hollywood home of Skiptown Playhouse (665 N. Heliotrope Drive).
The name "Jason Robert Brown" on a piece of music can strike joy in the hearts of singers and listeners (and mild trepidation in the hands of pianists everywhere). The Tony-winning composer has created a sound that has helped define contemporary musical theatre: pop-tinged melodies combined with lyrics that are alternately conversational and elegant, but always embrace the marvelous possibilities of language. His new album, How We React and How We Recover, takes on the uncertainties of today's world with his trademark wry honesty.

Jason Robert Brown was just 25 years old when his SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD took the stage of Off-Broadway's intimate WPA Theatre. As he played piano and led the handful of musicians in director Daisy Prince's production, a quartet of actors who all had big things ahead of them (Brooks Ashmanskas, Andrea Burns, Jessica Molaskey and Billy Porter) revealed the vivid collection of complex and approachable emotions expressed by the extraordinarily relatable collection of characters created by this young man's music and lyrics.
It's been an interesting afternoon in the land of Jeremy Jordan's social media, where the actor and some former collaborators have been hinting at...well, something. Maybe.

Imagine putting a DVD of your life together in the player and forwarding through the mystery of new love, the excitement of moving in together, the happiness of your true love finding success in work, the bliss of engagement and a new marriage, the resentment of success, the end of a marriage. Now if you play it backwards from the relationship dissolution to its inception simultaneously, only pausing at the wedding in both versions, you have the premise for the musical named TIME Magazine's ten best shows of 2001, The Last Five Years.
