The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs presents the 30th Annual MAC Awards tonight, March 29, 2016, at 7:30pm, at BB King Blues Club & Grill on 42nd Street in New York City.

With direction by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie and choreography by Josh Rhodes, Bright Starbegan performances on Thursday, February 25th, 2016 at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street), and opened just last night, March 24th, 2016. Primary Stages will soon present Exit Strategy, a New York premiere by Ike Holter (Hit the Wall)and directed by Kip Fagan (Grand Concourse). The limited engagement runs March 30 - May 6, 2016 at Primary Stages at the Cherry Lane Theatre and features Michael Cullen, Aime Donna Kelly, Rey Lucas, Deirdre Madigan, Christina Nieves, Brandon J. Pierce, and Ryan Spahn. Opening night is Tuesday, April 12at 8PM. Exit Strategy is produced in association with Philadelphia Theater Company.

The Ackerman Institute's Gender & Family Project will present its third annual benefit, A Night of A Thousand Genders, an evening of cocktails followed by a very special one-night-only cabaret evening celebrating the beauty and resilience of gender expansive youth and their families on Monday, April 11, 2016 from 6:00-8:30pm at City Winery (155 Varick Street, New York, NY)

Producer Riki Kane Larimer (Fiddler on the Roof, Tappin' Thru Life, On The Town, Gigi) presents the new hit Off-Broadway musical, CAGNEY, with book by Peter Colley (The Donnelly) and music & lyrics by Robert Creighton and Christopher McGovern (Fame, First Wives Club). Performances begin tomorrow, Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. for an open-ended engagement at The Westside Theatre - Upstairs (407 West 43rd Street). Opening Night is Sunday afternoon, April 3, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.

Judy Gold, the acclaimed comedian known for her work on television, film, and Off-Broadway, is making her Feinstein's/54 Below debut. If it's any indication of what her show will entail, just a few of her many 'special skills' include: screaming at her kids in public places, pretending that she's listening to you while texting, and road rage. The 6th annual BROADWAY BELTS FOR PFF! - a concert that raises much-needed funds for Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation - was held last night at the Edison Ballroom (240 W. 47 St.). Hosted by Julie Halston, performers included: Lisa Howard (IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN YOU), Margo Seibert (ROCKY), Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (ONCE UPON A MATTRESS),Daveed Diggs (HAMILTON), Randy Graff (CITY OF ANGELS), Cady Huffman (THE PRODUCERS), Judy Kaye(PHANTOM OF THE OPERA), Telly Leung (ALLEGIANCE), and Robert Creighton (THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD, CAGNEY).

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs has just announced the 2016 MAC Award nominees and complete list of honorees for the 30th Annual MAC Awards.

Last night was the world premiere of Anita Gillette and Penny Fuller's new show SIN TWISTERS, TOO! at Feinstein's 54 Below. It attracted a celebrity audience and BroadwayWorld was there TOO.

Luckily the Sunshine Comedy Show at the Friars starts after the main course in The Frank Sinatra dining Room. Comics are an impediment for the healthy digestion of a meal. I don't think that there has ever been a person that has been in the Friars club who has not shared a laugh or left the Monastery not smiling. That in itself is a huge accomplishment, but the Friars do so much more than entertain themselves and enjoy their camaraderie. The Friar's Club Sunshine Committee (Tom DeBow chairman) is to the Friars what Ronald McDonald House is to McDonald's-they bring a ray of sunshine to those who need it most!

After BroadwayWorld launched its New York Cabaret Awards in 2012, the cabaret section's editors realized that the selected categories and the popular vote nature of the election didn't adequately recognize some great performances and shows for that particular year. So in 2013, BWW added "Editor's Choice Awards" to the mix to not only reward special performances but also to acknowledge people who have helped grow cabaret and foster the spirit of the art form. This year, BWW New York Cabaret Editor Stephen Hanks and his reviewing staff-including Alix Cohen, David Clarke, Billie Roe, Rembert Block, and John Hoglund-selected seven stars of cabaret for this special honor. Now that the Awards for 2015 performances and shows are official, we wanted to tell you a bit about this year's "Editor's Choice Award" winners and offer them a chance to thank the New York cabaret community. Congratulations to all these worthy Award recipients.

In a prelude to their upcoming January 18th NYC concert at the Highline Ballroom the Nunziata brothers performed a show for a 'jury of their peers' at the legendary Friars Club last night and BroadwayWorld was there.   Check out the photos below.  

After 21 years as the cabaret light and sound guy, ministry was the only place left for Shawn Moninger to go. Now it;s 10 years later and Shawn returned to a club and made his cabaret debut last night at the Metropolitan Room. His opening act was Nancy Timanaro-Hogan, "The Loudest womean in the world!" and  BroadwayWorld was there. Check out photos below!

On April 6th 2016 The Drury Lane Oakbrook Theatre will present the World Premiere of Hazel, a new musical based on the popular comic strip character and 1960's TV show. With music by Ron Abel, Lyrics by Chuck Steffan, book by Lissa Levin, and directed by Joshua Bergasse, it stars Klea Blackhurst in the title role. Recently Klea and the creative team were making some finishing touches on the show and BroadwayWorld was there to capture the moment. Check out the photos below!

To life! The Broadway revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF just opened Sunday night, December 20 at The Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway), wrapping up the 2015 Broadway season. FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, and choreographed by Hofesh Shechter.
