Mark your calendars today for the fall's most anticipated anniversary and birthday celebration when the mega stars of Broadway and Cabaret come out to salute award-winning cabaret performer and Tony Award-winning producer Jamie deRoy when she celebrates the 25th anniversary of her Multi MAC award-winning Variety Show Jamie deRoy & friends, and her "40th annual 30th Birthday" on Monday, November 9th (7:30PM) at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College (899 10th Avenue at 59th Street.)

DROP DEAD PERFECT, the madcap comedy starring the legendary Everett Quinton returns to the Theatre at St. Clements (423 West 46 Street - between 8th and 9th Avenues) and begins previews on Wednesday, August 19th, for a limited eight week engagement. The official opening is set for Sunday, August 23rd.

Some more music history was made on the Birdland stage last night and Broadwayworld's Stephen Sorokoff was there. Two entertainers who have never performed together were on the Birdland stage last night.  For those of us who were in the audience for this under the radar/radio event, it turned out to be a not to be forgotten evening that added to the long list of Birdland historic musical moments.  Ann Hampton Callaway taped the first segment of her new radio program "This Is Cabaret" and had as her guest at the inaugural show none other than Steve Tyrell, a legend in the world of male pop/jazz singers.  His unique sensual voice is unmistakable and loved by millions via his recordings, movie soundtracks, and live appearances.  Steve is also a walking Wikipedia of the recording industry because of his career as a recording executive and producer.  He was there for many momentous musical creations as head of A&R for Scepter Records. Tyrell's singing "The Way You Look Tonight" in the Father of the Bride movie starring Steve Martin made him a household name. 

Shakespeare & Company presented the first full American production of Red Velvet, written by Lolita Chakrabarti, directed by Daniela Varon, and starring OBIE Award-winning actor John Douglas Thompson last night and Broadwayworld's Stephen Sorokoff was there. This powerful and emotional drama joins the Tina Packer Playhouse repertory and runs through September 13. Check out photos from the production below!

Penn Jillette and Teller make their long-awaited return to the Broadway stage this summer with Penn & Teller On Broadway, now in performances at the Marquis Theatre (46th Street between Broadway and 8th). Judy Blazer joins the cast of the Tony Award winning Best Musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, in the role of 'Miss Shingle' tonight, June 30.

Beloved star of stage and screen, Tony Danza made his Cafe' Carlyle debut last night and BroadwayWorld was there. The two-week engagement, entitled Tony Danza: Standards and Stories, will feature a selection of highlights from the Great American Songbook and more. Perhaps best known for starring on some of television's most cherished and long -running series, including Taxi and Who's the Boss?, Danza has also established himself as a Broadway star, a New York Times best-selling author and is indisputably one of America's most esteemed performers.

Last night Inside Broadway honored the renowned opera singer Renee Fleming (who starred on Broadway this season in Living on Love) and Broadway & TV star Tony Danza(who starred on Broadway this season in Honeymoon In Vegas) at their annual Beacon Awards. Taking place at The JW Marriott Essex House (160 Central Park South), the Broadway Beacon Awards are presented to individuals in the theatre and Times Square community who have been advocates for increasing the audience for live theatre and for understanding the importance of Arts and Education in the lives of New York City's young people. The first Broadway Beacon Award was given to Carol Channing in 1995.

Cy Coleman once said, 'Michele Lee is a surefire powerhouse performer. She embraces a lyric like nobody can.' Following her acclaimed 54 Below debut in 2014, this all-new at 54 Below show finds the stunning Michele Lee making a rare appearance in New York for three nights only, continuing tonight and tomorrow. Ms. Lee's new concert spotlights the music of the legendary Cy Coleman, including songs like 'Nobody Does it Like Me' and 'It's Not Where You Start' from her Tony-nominated performance in the musical Seesaw, along with other magnificent work and some surprises from Coleman's songbook.

It was announced today that Judy Blazer will join the cast of the Tony Award winning Best Musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, in the role of Miss Shingle.  She will begin performances on Tuesday, June 30.  Carole Shelley, who currently fills the role, will play her final performance on Sunday, June 28.

Generations around the world have grown up with Fiddler on the Roof and such unforgettable, iconic songs as 'If I Were a Rich Man' and 'Sunrise, Sunset.' But getting to the 'final Fiddler' was a fascinating process, and last night at the 92Y's last presentation of the Lyrics & Lyricists season-lyricist Sheldon Harnick took the 92Y audience inside the creation and history of this cultural landmark. Barry Kleinbort, director, composer, lyricist, and librettist shared his vast theatre knowledge with the 970am radio audience this past Sunday. Barry paid a visit to his longtime friend Jamie deRoy at Backstage with Peter LeDonne. This informative hour is available on Podcast at http://am970theanswer.com. Mr. Kleinbort is one of the select of creative people who are called upon to write special material for many cabaret and theatre performers.

An invitation-only reading of the new musical Amandine, featuring a book and lyrics by Winter Miller and music and lyrics by Lance Horne, will be presented on May 28, directed by Outer Critics Circle Award nominee Markus Potter.  The evening will feature the talents of Tony Award nominees Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent) and Elizabeth A. Davis (Once), along with Nick Blaemire (Found), Erin Markey (Erin Markey at Joe's Pub with Kenny Mellman), John Kelly (James Joyce's The Dead), and Romain Fruge (Threepenny Opera).

This Sunday's fascinating guests on Backstage with Peter LeDonne are author Andy Prospt and producer Ken Bloom. Mr. Probst has written the recent biography of Cy Coleman titled You Fascinate Me. Ken Bloom produced the companion CD of Cy's demos for the book.  Jamie DeRoy and Peter LeDonne can be heard on 970 am Sundays and on podcast.

Jamie deRoy came to Jim Caruso's Broadway at Birdland last night and Broadwayworld was there. In the world of show business everyone is always everyones friend. After 25 years of having enormously talented friends perform on her stages and loyal friends fill the seats at her shows, the consistency of participation points to the fact that most are real friends. Jamie's friends stick together. The hugs are real, the laughter is genuine, and the happy feeling everyone has after an episode of Jamie deRoy & friends always seems to linger in the air for many days after the show is over.  Such was the case of her latest entry in the series which always at this time of year features everything "TONY".

An Evening With Steve Tyrell was presented by the Friars Club last night and the Grammy and Emmy Award winning artist and producer had a chair named in his honor in the legendary Frank Sinatra Dinning Room. Check out photos from the event below!
