The Actors Fund recognized its 2016 Medal of Honor recipients at its annual gala, last night, April 25, 2016 (6pm) at the Marriott Marquis. Honorees included actor and producer Michael Douglas, producer and singer/songwriter Emilio and Gloria Estefan, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, American prima ballerina Cynthia Gregory, and director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw. Due to popular demand and following the announcement of its three 2016 Outer Critics Circle Award nominations, including 'Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical,' a new block of tickets is now on sale through September 25, 2016 for the new hit Off-Broadway musical, CAGNEY with book by Peter Colley and music & lyrics by Robert Creighton and Christopher McGovern, at The Westside Theatre -Upstairs (407 West 43rd Street). In addition, beginning July 7, 2016, CAGNEY will play Thursday afternoon matinees at 2:00 p.m.

The 2016 Drama League Award Nominees for Outstanding Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award were just announced this morning at Sardi's, by Aladdin stars Adam Jacobs, Courtney Reed and James Monroe Iglehart. Friar Laura Slutsky hosted a lunch at the Friars Club with invited guest Robert Creighton the star of the hit musical Cagney now playing the The West Side Theatre.  The event was co-produced by Riki Kane-Larimer and Friars filled the Milton Berle Room for a lively lunch and many interesting stories about all thing Cagney, Cohan, and Creighton.

THE FATHER, a new play by Moliere Award winner Florian Zeller, in a translation by two-time Tony Award winner Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, God of Carnage), opened just last night, April 14, 2016 on Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. ? Marilyn Maye returned to Feinstein's/54 Below and celebrated her birthday with a new show last night and BroadwayWorld was there. Highlights will include some of the best musical moments of Marilyn's enduring career over the past decade, during which she reigned as Manhattan's Queen of Cabaret.

Back by popular demand, audiences swooned as the Tony-winning star of South Pacific headlined with a brand new show for the limited 5-night engagement. With his music director Billy Stritch, Paulo brought the romantic songs of the American Songbook and his Brazilian roots to the stage of Feinstein's/54 Below. Jerry's 90th Birthday Party soon became a telethon of happiness as the Friars evening unfolded.  The pledges given to Jerry Lewis were of love and respect and they came from his fellow Friars and entertainers jam packed into the Frank Sinatra Dining Room.  The amount of laughs in the club even created a new total of hysterics for an institution that has been the home of much laughter during its storied show biz history.

The Lion, the highly acclaimed, Drama Desk Award-winning musical written and performed by Benjamin Scheuer, is searching for a new star, producer Eva Price announced today. Scheuer, who has been performing the piece in various productions since 2014, will play his final performance in his autobiographical musical on February 19, 2017 at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, CA. Due to popular demand, The Lion will continue its tour across America, and the search is underway for a new star.

The new musical Cagney, with book by Peter Colley and music & lyrics by Robert Creighton andChristopher McGovern, received its New York premiere at The York Theatre Company last spring, where it played a limited five-week, sold-out engagement. The production just transferred off-Broadway at at The Westside Theatre - Upstairs (407 West 43rd Street). At a ceremony held earlier this week in New York, the Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs announced the winners of the 2016 MAC Awards. A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Amanda McBroom. Also honored with a Board of Directors award was Maryann Lopinto. Jamie deRoy received the Ruth Kurtzman Benefit Award on behalf of her work with The Actors Fund: Jamie deRoy & Friends Cabaret Initiative. Sally Darling received the Hanson Award. The show was produced by Julie Miller and directed by Lennie Watts, with musical direction by Matt Baker.
