As a founding member of the New York Dolls and in a prolific solo career, David Johansen has been a seminal force in rock and roll, influencing countless singers and bands to this day. Buster Poindexter, Johansen's celebrated alter ego showcases his elegant crooning through R&B ballads. As Poindexter, his previous engagements at the Cafe have been sellouts and he's become one of the most revered artists to grace the Cafe, with TheaterMania calling his Cafe show 'one of the most satisfying musical acts you're likely to encounter in New York,' adding 'this show is hot.' In what continues to become a Cafe tradition, the audience favorite returned to Cafe Carlyle for a two-week residency last night and broadwayworld was there.

Broadway's THE HEIDI CHRONICLES Offering One-Year Membership to MoMA with Ticket Purchase

In keeping with the spirit of art historian Heidi Holland and her adventurous journey through the remarkable decades of 60s, 70s, and 80s art and culture, producers have announced that the first Broadway revival of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning Wendy Wasserstein play The Heidi Chronicles will offer a free one-year membership to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) with the purchase of two full price orchestra or front mezzanine tickets to any performance of The Heidi Chronicles through April 16. Tickets must be purchased on or before February 22. Those who are already MoMA members will receive a one-year extension on their membership.

There are some singers that like to conserve their voices. Johnny Mathis was one of them. He would edit his social conversations to incorporate just the smallest amount of words needed to have an exchange with someone. In fact he rarely answered the phone. I don't know if that's the reason his voice is still great, but I do know that talking a lot has not impaired the vocal chords of Marilyn Maye.

The 2014 BWW New York Cabaret Awards will celebrate the best cabaret performers and shows of last year as voted on by 7,500 fans in December after a one-month preliminary ballot process. Produced, directed, and hosted for the third straight year by BWW Cabaret Editor Stephen Hanks, the BWW Awards show will feature performances by many of the winners, many of whom are among the cream of the crop in the art of cabaret. Joining a star-studded cast (see below) will be two-time 2014 BWW Cabaret Award nominee and Broadway Musical star Len Cariou, who will perform a special tribute to the late songwriter Ervin Drake.

Two-Time Olivier Nominee to Join A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER on Broadway

It was announced today that two-time Olivier Award nominee Scarlett Strallen will take over the role of 'Sibella' in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, which won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Musical, beginning Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Her predecessor Lisa O'Hare exits the production on February 8, 2015 after originating the role at Hartford Stage, then in San Diego at The Old Globe, and finally on Broadway at The Walter Kerr Theatre.
