This fall, The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture offers an exciting lineup of panel discussion and talk events with a wide range of topics including civility on America's college campuses, an examination of faith in wartime, a celebration of excellence in today's African American Literature, and a return exploration of morality and spirituality for Star Warsfans. 

HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD Releases Over 100,000 Tickets Today

Over 100,000 tickets at all price points will be released on today at 11:00 AM ET for the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the fully renovated Lyric Theatre (214 West 43rd Street, New York, NY). This further block of tickets is for performances through June 9, 2019 at all price points starting from $40.

Sheen Center to Feature Poetry, Rap and Spoken Word

This fall, The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture presents special events featuring some of brightest poets, spoken word and rap artists. Participating artists include poet Sarah Kay; acclaimed spoken word poet Anis Mojgani, writer, poet and author Clint Smith; poet, essayist, and cultural critic Hanif Abdurraqib; celebrated spoken word poet Caridad de la Cruz; two-time Tony Award nominee, Grammy nominee, and author reg. e. gaines; Pulitzer Prize winning poet Sharon Olds and spoken word poet and founder and co-director of Project V.O.I.C.E.and T.S. Eliot Prize winning poet Ocean Vuong.

Sheen Center Announces Fall/Winter Season 2018

The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture has announced its 2018 Fall/Winter season, a rich program of theater, film, music, poetry, art, and talk events featuring artists and thought leaders including Princeton professors Cornel Westand Robert P. George; Grammy Award winner George Winston; two-time Tony Award nominee, Grammy nominee, and author Reg E. Gaines; Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award and Oscar-winning writer and director John Patrick Shanley; Pulitzer Prize winning poet Sharon Olds; the Tony-nominated star of Harry Potter & The Cursed Child, Jamie Parker;Suzzy Roche and Lucy Wainwright Roche with special guests The Indigo Girls; Benedictine nun and former Hollywood leading lady Mother Dolores Hart, O.S.B.; Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York; and events tackling topical national themes including civility on college campuses; police and refugee relations; and race, faith and identity politics.

Ardent Theatre Company today announce Ardent8, a year-long programme that offers artistic support to eight recent graduates who have found it difficult to make the leap from the regions to London. The inaugural ensemble are Sophie Coulter, Angela Crispim, Clare Hawkins, Henry Holmes, Nathan Linsdell, Jamie Parker, Garry Skimins and Sam Weston. The ensemble will perform the world premiere of Sacrifice written and directed byAndrew Muir at Soho Theatre, Upstairs from 31 July - 4 August 2018.

HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD Has Best Week Ever For A Play In Broadway History

The Tony and Olivier Award-winning Best Play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has set a new Broadway record for weekly ticket sales for a play, reporting a gross of $2,277,446 for the week ending June 17, 2018. This passes the high mark set by the two-part play in previews the week ending April 8, 2018 ($2,138,859) and the previous top grossing play, All The Way, which peaked at $1,623,495 in 2014.

Ahead of the 2018 Tony Awards this weekend, John Dickerson of the CBS This Morning podcast has an extended interview with two stars of the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The two-part, five-hour play catches up with the beloved characters 19 years after the final book, as adults with children at Hogwarts. It is nominated for 10 Tony Awards.

That's where the new Broadway play, 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,' picks up. J.K. Rowling's beloved characters are adults and their children are having adventures at Hogwarts. The two-part, five-hour play is nominated for 10 Tony Awards and already won a record nine Olivier Awards in England. Jamie Parker, who plays Harry Potter, and Noma Dumezweni, who plays Hermione Granger, join 'CBS This Morning' to discuss stepping into the shoes of such beloved characters, the decision to cast a black woman to play Hermione, and why fans have helped keep the plot under wraps.
