The Kimmel Center Cultural Campus has announced three new Jazz Residency teams for the 2019-20 season: Ruth Naomi Floyd (Composer/Vocals) and Charles a?oeChaza?? Lattimore Howard (Lyricist/Poet); Immanuel Wilkins (Composer/Saxophone) with Rog Walker (Photographer) and David Dempewolf (Video Installation); and Richard Hill Jr. (Composer/Voice/Bass). Each team will create a new, relevant, and engaging a?oePhilly Madea?? work for the community. In the Kimmel Center Jazz Residency's seventh consecutive year, all three of these original pieces will focus on the relationship of Philadelphia against a social issue, including the homelessness issue, the introspective examination of one's cultural identity as a citizen, and a futuristic look at neighborhoods.

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and Joe's Pub team up again for the Kimmel Center Theater Residency. Under the guidance of Jay Wahl, Producing Artistic Director of the Kimmel Center, Shanta Thake, Senior Director of Artistic Programs for The Public Theater, and Alex Knowlton, Director of Joe's Pub, the Theater Residency program serves as an host for artists and their collaborators to create and develop music and theater projects. The residency will be held in the Kimmel Center's SEI Innovation Studio from June 18 29 with Public Readings, FREE and open to the public, on June 28 and 29. Readings will be followed by Q&A sessions with the artists.

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts is excited to announce three new Jazz Residency teams for the 2018-19 season: David Allen, Raquel Salas Rivera, and Diane Monroe; Dan Blacksberg with Yosef Goldman; and Dariel Peniazek., Maya Peniazek, and Ariacne Trujillo. Collaborating with the Kimmel Center throughout winter and spring, each team will work to create a new project that is relevant and engaging to the Philadelphia community. In the residency's sixth consecutive year, all three of these new works will focus on how the United States is coming to terms with the question of identity and these artists' struggles to define belonging.

On Thursday, October 26, 7 PM, two-time Fred Ebb Award finalists Don and Jeff Breithaupt (aka The Breithaupt Brothers), whose Seeing Stars -- an original musical comedy written with book writer Shelley McPherson -- delighted sold-out audiences at the New York Musical Festival and whose recent recording, Just Passing Through, prompted CBC Radio to call their songs 'worthy of the Great American Songbook,' bring their songbook back to Joe's Pub for an all-star revue. The show will feature a cast of acclaimed cabaret, musical theater, and jazz singers fronted by a sparkling house band. Singing a selection of new Breithaupt Brothers songs and favorites, as well as a clutch of songs from Seeing Stars, will be rising cabaret star Marissa Mulder, the Manhattan Transfer's Janis Siegel, jazz trio Duchess, Broadway's Jeremy Kushnier, singer-songwriter Jamie Leonhart, cabaret spitfire Shelley McPherson, The Sweet Remains' Greg Naughton, and actors Michael Halling, Christian Campbell, Joan Hess, Chris Bolan, and Todd Gearhart.

As part of the artist commissioning program New York Voices, Joe's Pub at The Public presents Estuary: an artist/mother story, a new show conceived and written by Jamie Leonhart and directed by Joanna Settle. Estuary's original music is co-written and arranged by Grammy-winner Michael Leonhart. This presentation of Estuary features a live band that includes Saskia Lane, Pauline Kim, Sara Phillips Budde and Katie Scheele. Performances will run Monday through Wednesday, November 1-3 at 7:00PM at Joe's Pub at The Public (425 Lafayette, NYC). Joe's Pub at The Public has announced a new partnership with Philadelphia's renowned Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts for the 2015 Kimmel Center Theater Residency. Under the tutelage of Shanta Thake, Director of Joe's Pub, and Jay Wahl, the Kimmel Center's Artistic Director, the two week program will guide four world-class artists through the writing process and composition of four new works.
