Never before has there been a collection of Chicago's African American singers, Parisian Cabaret, LGBTQIA artists, and the classic American standards all coming together to celebrate 100 Years of Chicago Cabaret!

Chicago has a unique place in the history of cabaret, being the first American city to nurture hundreds of clubs with the intimate and often improvised entertainment first found in Paris in the 1880s.

The 2021-2022 Mercury Theater Chicago season has been announced. Mercury Theater Chicago welcomes audiences back in November to its beautiful home in the Southport Corridor with the feel-good blockbuster hit SISTER ACT directed by Reneisha Jenkins, featuring Chicago favorites Alexis J. Roston and Hollis Resnik. 

The Open House will be a joyful event to welcome audiences for live music and cocktails and the opportunity for guests to meet the new leadership team of Artistic Director Christopher Chase Carter, Managing Director Shane Murray-Corcoran and newly announced Cabaret Director Honey West, along with Executive Producers Walter Stearns and Eugene Dizon.

This year's Virtual PRIDE Parade’s Host & Grand Marshall is Alec Mapa. Mapa’s TV and film credits include Ugly Betty, Switched at Birth, Doom Patrol, You Don’t Mess with The Zohan and Connie and Carla.  He lives in Los Angeles with his husband Jamison and Son Zion.

Hell in a Handbag Productions once again takes on the classic 1970s disaster film genre with a totally ridiculous twist! Airport 1970SOMETHING is a parody that celebrates the popular '70s Airport disaster film series, edited and dubbed over with new dialogue by Handbag ensemble members and some of Chicago's favorite performers.

Mercury Theater Chicago announced today the cast and crew of the spectacular musical comedy PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT, running in the Venus Cabaret Theater from March 20 through June 28.

Chicago LGBT Hall of Famer, two-time After Dark Award-winning entertainer Honey West and two- time After Dark Award winner and Chicago Pressie Award Winner for Best Local Entertainer Freddy Allen, reunite for their first Chicago cabaret performance in over a decade since their Gentry days. This event will take place at Drew's On Halsted, 3102 N. Halsted, on Friday, November 15.

Jeff Award-winning director and HIV+ activist Christopher Pazdernik presents the 5th installment of Chris' Birthday Belt Fest, an annual benefit concert for Howard Brown Health, Monday, May 13 at 8 p.m. at Greenhouse Theatre Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave.Tickets are $30, in advance; $40, at the door on the night of the performance, and are available at GreenHouseTheater.org or by calling 773.404.7336. The performance is suitable for all ages and runs two hours with one intermission.

Celebrating more than 20 years of creating Shakespeare for everyone, Frog and Peach Theatre Company follows up their acclaimed production of A Midsummer Night's Dream with another classic comedy, TWELFTH NIGHT which begins performances Friday, February 22nd and opens Monday, February 25th.

Chicago Theatre Workshop (CTW) with permission from authors, Joe DiPietro and Jimmy Roberts will present a one-night only LGBTQ performance of their long running off-Broadway hit musical, "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" as a benefit for the company.

Butler commands the Porchlight stage with a presence that's both larger-than-life and also at the same time a deeply revealing character study. To say that Butler's portrayal of Mama Rose is a star turn is almost not enough. Butler seems to live and breathe this role; she does not appear to be acting but rather fully inhabiting this iconic character.
