FLASHDANCE To Make It Happen At Garden Theatre

The '80s are coming back to Winter Garden this summer during Garden Theatre's production of Flashdance the Musical! Directed by Jani Walsh-Weber, Flashdance will take to the Garden stage from July 5 - 28, 2019 with passion, fierce talent, and of course, the iconic rain scene.

BWW Review: MARY SHELLEY'S FRANKENSTEIN at Lookingglass Theatre Company

With Lookingglass Theatre Company being the fourth Chicago theater to produce a Frankenstein adaptation over the past year in celebration of the novel's 200th anniversary, audiences may well ask what more can be said about this classic tale. Rest assured: in MARY SHELLEY'S FRANKENSTEIN, writer and director David Catlin offers a unique and poignant perspective by placing the author herself, a highly imaginative and emotionally vulnerable teenager, center stage. Artist and artwork become intricately entwined as Mary Shelley (Cordelia Dewdney) pours her personal pain into a work of fiction that has captivated readers for centuries.

SHOWTIME Orders Comedy Series WORK IN PROGRESS

SHOWTIME has ordered an eight-episode season of the new half-hour comedy series WORK IN PROGRESS, created by Abby McEnany and Tim Mason. McEnany stars in the series, expected to premiere later this year. Mason directed the pilot. Lilly Wachowski (The Matrix, Sense8) will co-write the first season and executive produce with McEnany and Mason. SHOWTIME acquired the project after its premiere at this year's Sundance Film Festival, where it was an official selection of the Indie Episodic program. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine and Jana Winograde, Presidents of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc.

Toronto Fringe Festival 2019 Announces Lineup

THE TORONTO FRINGE FESTIVAL returns this summer with an extensive line-up of productions by award-winning artists, the popular POSTSCRIPT pop-up patio, and for the first time, will venture to the East End with 16 shows presented at main venue Streetcar Crowsnest. The TORONTO FRINGE takes place July 3 July 14, 2019 with 151 shows at 46 venues presented across the city, and all venues are fully accessible.

FRANKIE & JOHNNY Celebrates Broadway Opening With $25 Tickets

Cast And Creatives Of The Old Globe Production of AS YOU LIKE IT Announced!

As the 2019 Summer Shakespeare Festival kicks off, The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team with As You Like It, the Bard's fabulously charming romantic comedy, whose heroine is one of his most remarkable creations. Director Jessica Stone's recent body of work-including Barefoot in the Park, Ken Ludwig's Robin Hood!, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, and Arms and the Man-has had Globe audiences rolling in the aisles. Her Shakespearean directing debut will run June 16 - July 21, 2019 outdoors under the stars in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Tickets start at $30.00 and are on sale to the general public now. Previews run June 16-21 with opening night on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 8:00 p.m.

DWYT A CENTURY SONGBOOK Is Back By Popular Demand With More Songs And More Stories!

Back by popular demand and with exciting new material! The Segal Centre for Performing Arts is proud to present A Century Songbook by the Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre (DWYT). This uplifting show, celebrating 100 years of Jewish life in Montreal, was such a hit when it played a limited engagement of 5 performances in 2017 that the Segal Centre is bringing it back to the stage for 14 performances from June 16 to June 30, 2019.

BWW Previews: TONI STONE at Laura Pels Theatre

Toni Stone was the first female to play professional baseball in a major American baseball league and she happened to be African American. Toni played for teams around the country including the fabled Negro League Baseball teams like the Kansas City Monarchs and the unlikely monikered Indianapolis Clowns. She is the subject of a new off-Broadway play by Lydia Diamond opening for previews beginning May 23 at Roundabout's Laura Pels Theatre just off Times Square.

14th ANNUAL DANCE FESTIVAL Comes to The Provincetown Theater

The Provincetown Theater is honored to partner with the Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill in producing this 14th Annual Provincetown Dance Festival. Winners of the 64th Annual Obie Awards were announced just last night, May 20, in a ceremony held at New York City's Terminal 5. Heidi Schreck's What the Constitution Means to Me, produced by New York Theatre Workshop, received the Obie Award for Best New American Play, which is accompanied by a $1,000 prize. Artistic Director of New York Theatre Workshop, James C. Nicola, and Artistic Director and founder of Theatre For A New Audience, Jeffrey Horowitz received special Obie Awards for Lifetime Achievement. Golden Globe® winning 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' creator and star Rachel Bloom hosted this year's ceremony, which was held at Terminal 5 (610 West 56th Street).
