--CAROL OSTROW AND THE ACTORS' TEMPLE BOARD OF DIRECTORS are celebrating their 103rd year with a Fall Benefit for the temple, MARK WILLIAM, COME CROON WITH ME. Mark William, an incredibly talented young singer and dancer who frequently appears on New York stages, will be performing in the beautiful shul on 47th Street. The benefit will take place on Monday, Novemer 18, 2019 from 7:30pm-10:00pm in their very own recently renovated sanctuary located at 339 West 47th Street, NYC. $75 tickets are now on sale at www.theactorstemple.org/events.

New York Youth Symphony (NYYS), is proud to continue its mission of educating and inspiring young musicians through its Orchestra, Jazz, Chamber Music, Composition, Musical Theater Composition, Apprenticeship Conducting, and First Music commissioning programs. This season includes seven world premieres of new works commissioned through the First Music program, composed for the Orchestra, Jazz, and Chamber Music ensembles. The season also features renowned and up-and-coming soloists including prodigy pianist Harmony Zhu, 2019 Sphinx Competition winner cellist Sterling Elliott, and leading young pianist Michelle Cann in the Carnegie Hall premiere of Florence Price's recently re-discovered Piano Concerto in One Movement with NYYS Orchestra, as well as in-demand drummer Matt Wilson, celebrated saxophonist Steve Wilson, and trombone virtuoso Wycliffe Gordon with NYYS Jazz. The New York Philharmonic will present the seventh season of The Art of the Score, September 11a?"14, 2019, featuring two New York Premiere screenings, both conducted by Richard Kaufman: Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind in Concert, with John Williams's score performed live to the film, and Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho in Concert, with Bernard Herrmann's score performed live to the film. Actor and Philharmonic Board Member Alec Baldwin returns as Artistic Advisor of The Art of the Score, which explores some of the most distinctive uses of music in film.

For his starring role in Netflix's groundbreaking first original series, 'Lilyhammer,' actormusician Steven Van Zandt explored uncharted waters as a New York mobster who flees to Norway under the witness protection program. In addition to acting in, co-writing and co-producing the acclaimed show as well as directing the final episode, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also scored the music for most of the three seasons, where just like his character, the musician best known as Little Steven of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and an accomplished solo artist who helped pioneer the rock-meets-soul sound, also delved into some terrain foreign to him: the worlds of New York jazz and Norwegian folk music.

As Little Steven gets ready to embark on his North American Summer Of Sorcery tour in support of the recently released new album, the ever-prolific Rock and Roll Hall Of Famer is excited to share two more songs from his forthcoming score for 'Lilyhammer,' Netflix's first-ever series that actormusician Steven Van Zandt starred in, co-wrote and co-produced from 2012-2014. LAURA CHURCH MAKO, 102, of Beverly Hills, CA, died May 10, 2019, three weeks shy of her 103rd birthday. Laura Mae Church, born May 29, 1916 was a renowned interior designer and decorator for over 75 years.

Celebrated within the jazz community as a multi-talented musician, Lisa Maxwell, finally releases a long-awaited album of her own material, dedicated to a special cohort. The lineup reads like a Who's Who of the music world (see personnel below).

Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce that star of CBS' hit show BULL and Broadway's Hamilton, Christopher Jackson, will serve as the keynote speaker for the 2019 Henry Mancini Awards. In its 25th year, the Mancini Awards celebrate excellence in high school musical theatre in Beaver, Butler, and Lawrence Counties and are a participant in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards.  This year's ceremony is May 19 at 7 pm in Lincoln Park's Mainstage Theater.

Today, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) and the Santa Rosa Symphony announced the lineup for the 2019-20 Carlton Senior Living Symphony Pops Series, to be presented in the Ruth Finley Person Theater at Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (50 Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa). Now in its 15th year, the Sunday afternoon concert series introduces audiences to the great depth and range of sounds of the Santa Rosa Symphony and acclaimed soloists, through the music of legendary icons, famous film scores, and more. Led by the Santa Rosa Symphony's Principal Pops Conductor Michael Berkowitz, the 2019-20 season kicks-off with Symphonic Sinatra! on Sunday, October 13, 2019. The series will ring in the holiday season on Sunday, December 15, 2019 with Holly Jolly Pops, featuring festive carols and contemporary favorites.

André Raphel conducts the Detroit Symphony Orchestra on March 8 and 9, 2019 in its annual Classical Roots Concert taking place in Orchestra Hall.  The Saturday, March 9 performance will be a gala concert and a live webcast.  This year's tribute honors  George Walker,  the esteemed composer, pianist and educator who was the first African American to win a Pulitzer Prize for Music in 1996 for Lilacs, and who passed away this past August at age 96.  Composer Robert A. Harris will be a special Classical Roots Honoree.   It will be the 41st year that the DSO has presented Classical Roots, honoring the achievements of African American composers. 

On Today, February 16, the Jazz Masters Series of Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) will feature internationally known vibraphonist Christos Rafalides and his group, the Manhattan Vibes. Rafalides has appeared at such venues as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall and has been featured with numerous notable artists including Wynton Marsalis and Chaka Khan. In 2002, a Manhattan Vibes CD was named one of the year's top ten jazz recordings by Jazz Times.
