The Broadway community mourns the loss of beloved performer, lyricist and women's healthcare advocate Phyllis Newman, who passed away on September 15, 2019 at age 86. To commemorate her life and work, the Committee of Theatre Owners will dim the lights of the American Airlines, Broadhurst, Helen Hayes, Lunt-Fontanne, Lyric, New Amsterdam, Samuel J. Friedman, St. James, and Vivian Beaumont Theatres in New York for one minute on Friday, September 27 at exactly 7:45pm.

Studio Theatre Extends Pulitzer Prize-Winning DOUBT: A Parable

Studio Theatre is extending its season-opening production of Doubt: A Parable, adding five performances through October 13, 2019. John Patrick Shanley's masterpiece received the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize for its compelling interrogation of certitude and scandal within the Catholic Church. Studio's production is directed by the theatre's Associate Artistic Director Matt Torney and is anchored by DC theatre treasure Sarah Marshall, distinguished by having performed at Studio more than any other actor. Joining Marshall are Christian Conn (Studio Theatre's Venus in Fur) as Father Flynn, Amelia Pedlow as Sister James, and Tiffany M. Thompson as Mrs. Muller.

Set in the present-day, a posse of storybook princesses, led by Snow White, ditch the damsels-in-distress diatribe and tell some hilarious truths about those so-called a?oehappily-ever-aftera?? endings. Serving up the irresistible songs and wit of playwright, composer, and lyricist Dennis T. Giacino is the critically acclaimed team of director Matt Conner, musical director Elisa Rosman, Scenic and Costume Designer Margie Jervis, and Lighting Designer Lynn Joslin. The production will run through October 27 at Creative Cauldron, 410 South Maple Avenue, Falls Church, VA.
