Plays for romantics and plays for cynics; shows for families and shows by and about women;  music from the movies and Broadway as well as timely new comedies and shocking stories of dark secrets - the Ivoryton Playhouse 2018 season has something for everyone and more than you ever expected.

Tony and Drama Desk nominee and multi-Audelco Award winner Andre De Shields and internationally acclaimed jazz vocalist Sheila Jordan are among the artists who will be honored at the 33rd Annual Bistro Awards Gala on Monday, March 12 at 6:30 pm at Gotham Comedy Club, 208 W. 23rd St. As is the Bistro Award tradition, the evening will feature performances by all of the winners.

THE FANTASTICKS, best known for being the world's longest running musical, will open this week at the Winding Road Theater Ensemble! With Music by Harvey Schmidt, and a Book and Lyrics by Tom Jones, THE FANTASTICKS opened Off-Broadway in 1960 and ran for a record breaking forty-two years, closing in 2002. It was then revived again Off-Broadway in 2006, where it ran for another 11 years, closing in 2017.

Actor Mark Rylance (Academy Award and 2-time Tony Award winner) and playwright Claire van Kampen discuss her new play in which he stars, Farinelli and the King, with co-hosts playwright Warren Leight and Susan Haskins. Also, co-host Michael Musto goes backstage at The Oscar Hammerstein Awards for a conversation with this year's honorees, the legendary songwriting team of Tom Jones & Harvey Schmidt (The Fantasticks; I Do, I Do; 110 in The Shade).

Broadway veterans Carole Demas, who originated the role of Sandy in Grease, and Sarah Rice, who originated the role of Johanna in Sweeney Todd, have teamed up to celebrate the music of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, composers of THE FANTASTICKS, 110 IN THE SHADE, and I DO! I DO! and more. Demas and Rice have based their show on their 50 years of work and personal relationships with Jones and Schmidt.

Last night The York Theatre Company honored the musical theatre writing team of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt in a Fantastick gala concert and award ceremony directed by Richard Jay-Alexander. The 2017 Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre was presented to the legendary team (The Fantasticks, I Do, I Do!, 110 in the Shade, Celebration) at the event held at the Asia Society on Park Ave in NYC and BroadwayWorld was there. THE FANTASTICKS is an endearing, romantic family musical about a boy, a girl, two fathers and a wall. Loosely based on the play The Romancers (Les Romanesques) by Edmond Rostand, the musical follows two neighboring fathers who trick their children, Luisa and Matt, into falling in love by pretending to feud. Set in a world of moonlight and magic, this classic musical teaches us about life, love, and the lessons learned along the way. Written in 1960 by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones, the show's original Off-Broadway production ran a total of 42 years and 17,162 performances, making it the world's longest-running musical.
