A piece of the set from Shakespeare in Love will become a permanent part of the Shakespeare North Playhouse in Prescot, Knowsley.

Next up at The Wallis, a radical reinvention of Shakespeare’s King Lear, starring Joe Morton in the titular role opens May 14, 2022 (with previews beginning May 10th). John Gould Rubin directs the cast which also includes Mark Harelik, River Gallo, Zach Solomon, Brie Eley, Emily Swallow, Rafael Jordan, Miguel Perez, Stanley Jackson, and Danielle Thorpe. John was most gracious to carve out some time of his full creative schedule to answer a few of my queries.

A trifecta of Oscar winners star in a new British drama from filmmaker Eva Husson (Girls of The Sun and TV's Hanna). Olivia Colman, Colin Firth, and Glenda Jackson star in Mothering Sunday, The film makes its Monadnock region debut at The Park Theatre in Jaffrey on Friday, May 6 at 7pm and will run for one week.

Austin Pendleton, the award winning actor/writer/director currently starring in 'The Minutes' on Broadway, will direct a reading of 'King Lear' at the AMT Theater May 1st, 6pm.  The reading stars Charles E. Gerber as Lear and is produced by the Workshop Theater Company as part of its annual 'Will-A-Thon' celebrating the week of Shakespeare's birthday.  It will be presented at AMT, 354 West 45th Street.

Theatre Royal Bath has announced the first season of work to be commissioned for the Ustinov Studio by its new Artistic Director, the internationally acclaimed and multi-award winning theatre and opera director Deborah Warner.

TFANA will present Alice Childress’s Wedding Band. Director Awoye Timpo’s new staging, running April 23–May 15, brings Childress’s masterpiece to New York audiences for the first time since 1972, when it made its New York premiere in a production directed by Childress and Joseph Papp.

Shakespeare’s Globe has announced the full cast for the 2022 Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank production of Macbeth, directed by Sarah Frankcom. This marks Sarah’s directorial return following her tenure as Artistic Director of LAMDA. 

San Diego Repertory Theatre (San Diego REP) announced Abigail Buell as the newly appointed Managing Director of San Diego's downtown resident professional theatre, now in its 46th Season.

ELIZABETH IRELAND McCANN, the iconoclastic Broadway producer who won nine Tony Awards during a 60-year career in theater, died after a bout with cancer on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, according to her longtime associate and friend, Kristen Luciani.  She was 90 years old. 

Commemorating 40 years since the Greenham Common Women’s March and Peace Camp, the documentary features interviews with key participants, alongside archive footage from the one of the longest protests in history.

An exclusive live theatre event to celebrate the publication of 50 Women In Theatre at Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, Shakespeare's Globe will be presented on Sunday 3 October 2021 at 6pm.

Taking place in the grounds of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, the event will address the climate emergency, and features guests including Glenda Jackson, Lemn Sissay OBE, Dr. Helen Czerski and Kiran Landa. The event is free to attend and will begin at 6pm.

The Theatre World Awards Board of Directors announced today, as a departure from the annual awards ceremony, will present a one-night only virtual event to honor Broadways best with a Special Gala Award Benefit to help raise funds for the prestigious Theatre World Awards.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) and Artistic Director Steve Maler, together with the City of Boston and Mayor Kim Janey, have announced the Company's plans to return to live performance this summer with its 25th anniversary production of Free Shakespeare on the Common.
