To honour Vancouver's vibrant artistic community during this challenging time, the 2020 Jessie Theatre Award Nominations were announced virtually, for the first time, on Monday, June 8th, hosted by the mother daughter duo Amanda Sum (seen this season in Chicken Girl and East Van Panto) and Linda Leung.

The PLAYGROUND FESTIVAL OF NEW WORKS is a leading showcase of new plays and new playwrights. This year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival marks its 25th anniversary, by presenting its offerings on-line. The resulting fest is a 25-event covering 5-weeks, all live-streamed via Zoom, and largely free of charge.

New Hampshire Theatre Project announces their NH Gives 2020 campaign with 24 hours of programming which delves into the impact of their work as they raise $10000 to support the creation of a new community-sourced play We Don't Know What This Is Yet. After the success of THE DUCKS in April with an all-star cast of 18, Justin Sayre regales the masses with another wild and witty play PUSSY FRIGHT! to Livestream on May 24, 2020, at 8 pm EST/5 pm PST, directed by Tom DeTrinis. New Hampshire Theatre Project invites community members to become active participants in the creation of a new theatrical piece, currently titled We Don't Know What This Is Yet.

PlayGround, San Francisco's premier theatre development lab, is hosting the nation's largest fully digital new play festival PlayGround Zoom Fest presented May 11 through June 14, 2020.

Like many other theaters all over the world the Redhouse Arts Center has unfortunately experienced many cancellations and rescheduling of shows that are a part of their 2020 season. To still support the theater and continue giving access to the arts, like other theaters the Redhouse has shifted to online programs under 'Virtual Redhouse.' Virtual Redhouse has expanded. Starting May 4th and running through May 17th the Redhouse is offering a chance for their virtual audiences to experience and view their 2019 production of the Off-Broadway hit Almost, Maine. This production entertained audiences at Redhouse in January and February for their 2019 season. The live stream is available for purchase at www.theredhouse.org and the cost, which includes all fees, is only $15. Once purchased you have 24 hours to view and enjoy the enchanting production as directed by the talented Steve Hayes who made his directorial debut with this production. The stellar cast features Laura Austin, Lilli Komurek, Alyssa Otoski-Keim, John Bixler, Basil Allen, and Derek Emerson Powell.

Berkshire Theatre Group will present a one-time-only, live-streamed broadcast musical event, live from Florence, Italy Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin as a Mother's Day special on Sunday, May 10 at 8pm.

New Hampshire Theatre Project has been making theatre with communities for over thirty years, and now in the wake of the Covid-19 Global Pandemic they are returning to their roots to create a new work for the stage. Resident and Company Artists along with Executive Director Genevieve Aichele and Artistic Director Catherine Stewart are gathering accounts from individuals, holding space for community dialogue, and reflecting on the new normal that the world finds itself in.
