Steppenwolf Theatre Company will celebrate 44 years of trailblazing theatre and with an unforgettable evening inspired by the art and artists of our past, present and future. This phenomenal event will be emceed by esteemed ensemble member Gary Cole (Veep, The West Wing, Office Space), who will also tread the Steppenwolf boards for the first time in 20 years in this summer's production of Catch as Catch Can. A dynamic collaboration between artists and board members, Gala 2020 co-chairs include ensemble member Joan Allen; trustee Susan Berghoef; ensemble members Gary Cole and Sandra Marquez; and trustee Anne Phillips and Don Phillips. The Gala will take place at a new location, the stunningly renovated Old Post Office (415 S. Canal St., Chicago).

Five For Fighting, the one-man band of Grammy Award-nominated singer and songwriter John Ondrasik, will be accompanied by a dynamic string quartet when he rings in the festive holiday season at SOPAC on Thursday, December 12 at 7:30 p.m.

The American Veterans Center's annual broadcast special in honor of Veterans Day, American Valor: A Salute to Our Heroes, will once again return to television this year. Emmy Award nominated actor/comedian and veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Rob Riggle, will reprise his role as host for the evening, paying tribute to our service men and women spanning from World War II to the present day. Noted celebrities will lend their voices to tell the stories of service and valor, including Tery Crews, John Cena, Lauren Fishburne, Gary Sinise, Mike Rowe, Allison Janney and Clint Eastwood.  Joining American Valor as a presenter of these stories of service and sacrifice is Kyle Chandler, Ben Foster, Kellie Pickler, and Charlie Weber along with White House Correspondents Kyra Phillips (ABC News) and John Roberts (Fox News).

A prominent family from one of the most Italian towns in America received a national honor from the Sons of Italy Foundation. The Foundation is affiliated with the Order of Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, the largest and oldest Italian American organization in the United States. The Frank and Angela Donio Family has dedicated their lives to involvement in charitable and civic organizations, their efforts have made an indelible impact on the communities they serve. The members of the family who were honored are Frank G. Donio (Posthumously), Angela L. Donio, Fr. Frank S. Donio, S.A.C., John S. Donio and James M. Donio, who co-founded the Eagle Theatre.

Today, which marks the first day of Military Appreciation Month, the American Veterans Center announced that the 15th annual National Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 27th at 2PM (EST) along Constitution Avenue in our nation's capital. Longtime ensemble member Randall Arney directs Steppenwolf's first revival of the play that launched the theatre onto the national scene in 1982. Reimagined with a new generation of Steppenwolf artists, the 2019 production stars previously announced ensemble members Jon Michael Hill (CBS's Elementary; Steppenwolf, Lincoln Center, and Spike Lee's Pass Over) and Namir Smallwood (Lincoln Center's Pass Over and Pipeline). Joining Hill and Smallwood are ensemble member and original cast member Francis Guinan and celebrated Chicago actor Jacqueline Williams.
