An astonishingly fierce tour de force blazes at Upstream Theater

Blisteringly poetic: Inspired by the Greek myth about a young woman offered as a human sacrifice, Gary Owen's IPHIGENIA IN SPLOTT is a fireball of a monologue with lines that can be wickedly funny even as they drive home the high price people pay for society's shortcomings.

In the hour-long special, filmed in his hometown of Cincinnati at the Memorial Hall OTR, Owen hilariously embraces his new life as a divorceì following a very public and messy end to his marriage. Unable to diffuse rumors until now, Owen airs some of his dirty laundry and continues to dazzle viewers with more of his beloved real-life stories.

Marking the first full-length production that Artistic Director Joe Murphy has directed since his appointment in 2019, Sherman Theatre presents a festive treat written by one of Wales's best loved playwrights, Gary Owen (Iphigenia in Splott, Killology). Set in Victorian Cardiff, Owen's adaptation sees a female Scrooge visited by three spirits, with Hannah McPake taking the title role alongside a cast of actor-musicians.

Tickets will be available on a Pay What You Can system, starting at just £6. A minimum of 25% of every ticket bought for SHEDINBURGH 2021 will go into the SHED LOAD OF FUTURE FUND a fund to support the next generation of artists get to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. James Morton is a playwright from Stoke-On-Trent. His debut play Father's Son was shortlisted for the Tony Craze Award and after a reading at Soho Theatre premiered at this year's Vault Festival. In keeping with the evolving response to the current public health crisis, Upstream Theater is postponing their regional premiere of IPHIGENIA IN SPLOTT by Welsh playwright Gary Owen until next season. The play is now scheduled to run from October 9-25. If single tickets or a season passport were purchased, they will honor your ticket at that time.

The National Theatre today announces nine productions that will play on the South Bank in 2020-2021 alongside previously announced shows. These run alongside our international touring productions, three plays that will tour to multiple venues across the UK and a West End transfer. The NT also announces today that it will increase the quantity of low-price tickets on the South Bank by 25%, with 250,000 available across the year at £20 or less.
