WaterTower Theatre Producing Artistic Director Shane Peterman and Associate Producer Elizabeth Kensek have announced casting and creative details for the world premiere of GOIN’ HOLLYWOOD, a new musical by Stephen Cole & David Krane. 

For years – for decades, really – I have advocated that Music City tourism would benefit from a sit-down production of a country music-themed musical, one that would appeal to a wide range of aficionados and would showcase the musical library of a beloved figure in the pantheon of Nashville music. Finally, Studio Tenn delivers the perfect vehicle for that with the world premiere production of Here You Come Again, featuring songs written by or recorded by Dolly Parton (the Patron Saint of Tennessee aka The Smoky Mountain Songbird).

Weston Entertainment will present the Western New York Premiere of john & jen, with music by Andrew Lippa, Lyrics by Tom Greenwald and book by Tom Greenwald & Andrew Lippa. john & jen will run at the Taylor Theater in Lockport NY's Kenan Center from March 24-26, 2023.

RED BULL THEATER will rediscover the hit 1968 musical Your Own Thing and to give it its the first New York presentation in decades with a star-studded cast lead by Eddie Cooper, Tony Award nominee Lilli Cooper, Tony Award-winner Santino Fontana, Olivier Award-winner Lesli Margherita, Simon Pearl, Michael Pilato, Jennifer Sánchez, and Vaden Thurgood. 

Forever Plaid is an Off-Broadway Musical Revue that was first performed in 1989 in New York, and was written by Stuart Ross. Now the show is performed Internationally. The show itself featured Stan Chandler, Guy Stroman, Gabriel Barre, and Jason Graae in the 1989 New York Cast. While James Raitt was responsible for the Musical arrangement, vocal arrangements and music direction, the show was Directed and Choreographed by its writer Stuart Ross. The Musical Revue was produced into a feature film, which was released in 2009 starring two of the original cast members (Chandler, and Engel)and Larry Raben and Daniel Reichard as Sparky and Frankie respectively. Fans of the show will notice that in the film adaptation, “The Golden Cardigan,” and “Catch a Falling Star,” were omitted.

RED BULL THEATER has announced that Lesli Margherita, Simon Pearl, Michael Pilato, and Vaden Thurgood have been added to the cast of their one-night-only benefit performance of the hit 1968 rock musical Your Own Thing.

Pittsburgh CLO presents a new musical, HERE YOU COME AGAIN written by Bruce Vilanch, Gabriel Barre, and Tricia Paoluccio, with songs by Dolly Parton (and others) January 12 – 29 at the Pittsburgh Playhouse. HERE YOU COME AGAIN is presented by Pittsburgh CLO Kara Cabaret Series and produced in association with The Pittsburgh Playhouse.

Eddie Cooper, Lilli Cooper and Jennifer Sánchez will join Santino Fontana for Red Bull Theater's all-star benefit performance of Your Own Thing, the 1968 hit Off-Broadway rock musical suggested by Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. This one-night-only performance will take place Monday December 12th at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space.  

AEA featured prominently in industry news last week - voicing support for a casino project in Times Square, as the subject of a defamation suit from producer Garth Drabinsky, and their efforts to organize the dancers at Star Garden. All as the industry continues to work towards a new normal, while facing tremendous challenges on all fronts.

Last week A SIGN OF THE TIMES -- was announced for a new developmental reading. The release stated the musical had “several script revisions” and the librettist was now Lindsey Hope Pearlman. Absent was any mention of well-known comedy writer Bruce Vilanch, the original librettist, who had been developing the show for almost a decade.

A Sign of the Times, a new musical featuring the songs of Petula Clark and multiple hit-makers of the 1960s, is set to have a developmental reading October 24-28, 2022. The new musical has made several script revisions and now features a book by Lindsey Hope Perlman (Cassandra Complex), based on an original story by Richard Robin.

Casa Mañana will present the world premiere co-production of Here You Come Again: How Dolly Saved My Life in 12 Easy Songs, presented by Frank Kent Cadillac.
