An evening of stellar 10-minute plays from some of the top MFA playwrights in the country, Theater Masters Take Ten 2019 is an exciting presentation of new short plays from the next generation of American Playwrights. This year's Take Ten features 10-min plays by 6 stellar playwrights from some of the best MFA programs in the country. Presented in association with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater.

Prominent Canadian playwright George F. Walker (Order of Canada, Governor General's Lifetime Achievement Award, five-time Dora Award winner) brings his many years of experience to Toronto's indie theatre scene to direct his acclaimed 2010 dark comedy And So It Goes for fledgling Kyanite Theatre.

Following its critically acclaimed world premiere at Vancouver's Touchstone Theatre, the first Toronto production of the gripping new drama, C'mon Angie! by Amy Lee Lavoie will be presented by Leroy Street Theatre and The Spadina Avenue Gang.

The New York Premiere production of The Light, the first show at MCC Theater's new home, The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space (511 West 52nd Street), opened just last night, February 10.

Leroy Street Theatre will be kicking off the 2019 winter theatre season with a new production of Gruesome Playground Injuries by Pulitzer Prize finalist, Rajiv Joseph. This highly acclaimed, time-jumping modern masterpiece is a rough-edged and heart-wrenching play from one the most exciting contemporary voices in American theatre. Staged by core members of The Assembly Theatre's resident company, this new production of the timely and tender dark comedy is sure to be one of the most exciting events in the indie theatre scene this winter.

Obie, Emmy, and Tony winner Lillias White and Marvel and DC television regular Danny Johnson (Daredevil, Luke Cage, Gotham) will lead two industry readings of Douglas Lyons's new family comedy Chicken and Biscuits. Directed by Zhailon Levingston, the full cast includes C. Kelly Wright, Inga Ballard (Ragtime Tour), Akira Golz (Matilda), Doug Goldring, Josh Adam Ramos, and Lauren F. Walker (Charm).

Juilliard Drama begins its inaugural year under the leadership of Obie-winning director Evan Yionoulis, Richard Rodgers Director of the Drama Division. Current acting director Richard Feldman will resume his role as associate director and faculty member. The 2018-19  season features fully staged productions showcasing Juilliard's Group 48 acting students in their fourth and final year in the program.

The 39th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards for the 2017-2018 season were handed out in a star-studded ceremony in Toronto on the evening of Monday, June 25 at the Winter Garden Theatre of the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, hosted by acclaimed actor Astrid Van Wieren, currently starring on Broadway in the award-winning Canadian musical Come From Away.

Fort Worth Opera (FWOpera) announced today the names of the six composer and librettist teams whose unpublished works have been selected for the company's sixth annual, critically-acclaimed new works series, Frontiers - funded in part by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Held during the final week of the 2018 FWOpera Festival, these selected pieces will be presented in two separate showcases of three works each on Wednesday, May 2 from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm, and Thursday, May 3 from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm, on the stage of Bass Performance Hall. Featuring 20-minute excerpts of each selected piece, these brand-new operas will be sung by artists from the 2018 FWOpera Festival with piano accompaniment.

Juilliard today announced that Obie-award winning director Evan Yionoulis, currently professor in the practice of acting and directing at Yale School of Drama and a resident director at Yale Repertory Theatre, will become the school's Richard Rodgers Director of Drama at Juilliardstarting with the 2018-19 academic and performance season. The Juilliard Drama Division, celebrating its 50th anniversary this season, offers a program that encompasses one of this country's most respected conservatory educations for actors as well as highly successful pre-professional mentoring for playwrights.

Criminal Girlfriends proudly announces that four shows have been added to the current run of its production of the world premiere of Fierce, an intensely funny, razor-sharp work by the award-winning playwright George F.
