Adventure Theatre MTC Cancels Shows and Classes Due to COVID-19

Adventure Theatre MTC, following Governor Hogan's announcements, will shut down all classes and all performances beginning Monday, March 16, 2020. Classes will resume Sunday, March 29, 2020 in line with current public schools.

Adventure Theatre MTC has announced the second extension of its current production The Snowy Day and Other Stories by Ezra Jack Keats, now showing until April 11, 2020. Based on the series of books that broke the color barrier in children's literature, it tells the story of Peter who works through everyday challenges in childhood. Houston Grand Opera's 2020-21 Season To Feature Opera Favorites And Company Premieres

Houston Grand Opera has announced its 2020a?"21 season, featuring a repertoire of beloved classics, company premieres, and a much-anticipated world premiere. The 66th season opens with audience favorite Carmen. American mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard makes her HGO and role debut as Carmen in the revival of Rob Ashford's acclaimed 2014 production of Bizet's classic. She is joined by tenor Andrea Caré as Don José, bass-baritone Christian Pursell as Escamillo, and Anita Hartig as Micaela, all making their HGO debuts. The production will be conducted by HGO Principal Guest Conductor Eun Sun Kim.

Regina Opera Presents 'Gotta Sing' Concert

Regina Opera will present a concert on October 20th featuring operatic and popular selections. Sopranos Jennifer Gliere and Kimberly Lloyd; mezzo-soprano Maayan Voss de Bettancourt; tenor Chad Kranak; baritone Kevin Rockower; and bassos Gennady Vysotsky and GeeSeop Kim will be accompanied by pianist Victoria Ulanovskaya and flutist Richard Paratley. This special one-time-only concert will also feature several selections from the opera “The Uprising of the Warsaw Ghetto” by Harry Bailor.

Bringing all 13 characters to life is Joy Dolo (CTC: The Hobbit, Pinocchio, The Last Firefly, and The Snowy Day and other stories by Ezra Jack Keats) and Dean Holt (CTC: now in his 25th year as a member of CTC's Acting Company; has appeared in over 100 productions). Both actors frequently appear in Banks' productions, most recently in last season's critically-acclaimed production of The Hobbit.

Freeform announced today that it has signed a script to series deal for “Party Girls,” a half-hour, single-camera dramedy inspired by the true story of Ericka Suzanne, daughter of the first female leader of the Black Panther Party, Elaine Brown. Set in Oakland in the '70s, “Party Girls” will follow Ericka's attempt to survive her adolescence as her mother rises in the Party. The plot explores an unconventional mother-daughter relationship, balancing the stakes of the movement with the humor inherent in coming-of-age, and asking the question how do you rebel when your mom is leading a rebellion?
