In celebration of the 86th anniversary of the iconic original film of King Kong, the New York City Mayor's Office will recognize the Broadway musical King Kong and its contribution to the culture of New York City by declaring the area outside of the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway at 53rd Street) King Kong Court with a ceremonial street renaming on Wednesday, March 6.

We had a HUGE night at Broadway Sessions recently as we welcomed the cast of King Kong! Cast members Erik Lochtefeld, Jaquez Sims, Jennifer Noble, Nick Rashad Burroghs, Leroy Church, Casey Garvin, Kayla Davion, Rhaamel Burke-Missouri, Rory Donovan,  Chloe Chambers and our Rising Star Ciana Micelli, proved just how BIG talent can be. King Kong has just dropped an all new TV spot! The commercial features footage from the show, including, of course, the iconic puppet.

King Kong is currently taking Broadway by storm, but it appears to have its sights set on new land.

BROADWAY SESSIONS is described as an evening of musical performances, games and open mic featuring a new Broadway cast twice monthly. The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida, Footloose, Dance Captain Dance Attack web series) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano. This Thursday night, 2/7 Broadway Sessions will welcome cast members from King Kong and more.

The gifts have been opened, the feasts have been eaten and the merriment has been had. As the holiday season comes to a close and we countdown the final days of the year, we're getting ready to ring in 2019 by looking back. Tickets for King Kong are now on sale through September 1, 2019. The new Broadway musical is playing at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway) where it opened on Thursday, November 8 (previews began October 5, 2018).

On December 4, The New York City Children's Holiday Party brought nearly 800 children from 38 different homeless shelters to experience the epic musical King Kong. After the performance, each child received gifts and a backpack with educational supplies and departed the show with a merry send-off from Santa Claus.

Using Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack's 1933 cinema classic 'King Kong' as the inspiration for a musical theatre piece really isn't such a bad idea. Among the film's notable achievements is the extraordinary dramatic underscoring music by Max Steiner, that supplied the title character's tragic death plunge from atop the Empire State Building with the kind of heartbreaking emotion that would make any operatic tenor jealous.
