Michael Sterling, BroadwayWorld's LA On Air Host and Co-Producer for BWW TV and Jerry Evans of JLE Media in Los Angeles spent the day at rehearsal for Hollywood Bowl's upcoming, new production of Into the Woods.
On Saturday, July 13, from 10 am until 12 noon, Better Lemons and Theatre West will be hosting the Producers Panel "Show Me the Money!" with some of LA's premiere theatrical producers sharing their fundraising success stories and secrets. This panel discussion will provide a great opportunity for LA's vast theatrical community to ask questions on what it takes to produce a show in Los Angeles.
The "Show Me the Money!" event will be a panel discussion and a conversation with the audience to address specific situations and opportunities. All of the panelists are producers with a diverse background of fundraising experience, from attracting wealthy benefactors to leveraging public funds.
On Friday, June 28, I had the pleasure of seeing the farcical Monty Python musical SPAMALOT performed outdoors by Musicals at Richter, on the grounds of the Richter House, next to the Richter Park Golf Course in Danbury, CT. I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience with Musicals at Richter. I am very impressed at the high level of talent that they have assembled together to perform what is truly a wonderful production for all in attendance, and all on stage. The show is brilliantly directed by Shannon Courtney Denihan with musical direction by Tracey Marble and Claire Simard.
Musicals at Richter (MAR), celebrating 35 seasons as the longest-running outdoor theater in Connecticut, kicks off its main stage season with 'Monty Python's Spamalot,' the uproariously funny musical based on the classic film comedy 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail,' playing June 28 to July 13.
A man of many voices and talents (you may not readily recognize by voice - he has so many), Alan Tudyk will be mounting the Geffen stage, undertaking dual roles in Michael Mitnick's MYSTERIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES. Under the direction of Geffen Playhouse artistic director Matt Shakman, previews for MYSTERIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES began June 11, with an opening night set for June 19, 2019. Alan managed to find some time to get on the phone with me after a fun day of rehearsals.
The McLean Community Players return to the Alden Theatre with the musical Seussical, which opens July 12, 2019, and runs weekends through July 28. Seussical brings together many beloved Dr. Seuss characters, including the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Maizie La Bird, the Grinch, JoJo and the Whos. The Cat narrates the story - pulled from more than a dozen Dr. Seuss books - of Horton's adventures while protecting The Whos. The characters travel everywhere from the Jungle of Nool to Whoville, the Circus McGurkus, and other far off destinations.

Entr'Acte Theatrix will revisit one of the silliest places on earth when their encore production of Monty Python's Spamalot opens at the Crest Theatre at Old School Square in Delray Beach. The show will run from June 20th through the 30th. The award-winning musical is 'lovingly ripped off' from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, with a book by Python Eric Idle, and a score by Idle and John Du Prez. Like the film, Spamalot is a totally irreverent and typically Pythonesque parody of the Arthurian saga:
Walter Stearns, Executive Director of Mercury Theater Chicago, announced today that a production of the Tony-Award Winning Best Musical, SPAMALOT. will run on the Mercury Theater stage from August 30 through November 3, 2019. The press opening is Sunday, September 8 at 7pm. Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, SPAMALOT retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, featuring ridiculous men in tight pants - not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people. SPAMALOT will feature the creative talents of Walter Stearns (Director), Eugene Dizon (Musical Director) and Shanna VanDerwerker (Choreographer).

What is described to some as crude humor to others is the best kind of humor. I was delighted to see that the touring production of Monty Python's Spamalot was touring and would be making a stop in St. Paul at the Ordway. Adapted from the 1975 film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this production moved to Broadway in 2005 and stars a lot of well-known names. The Broadway production was even nominated for 14 Tony awards and won three including Best Musical. The Broadway run even starred some now very big names including Tim Curry, David Hyde Pierce, Christian Borle and Sara Ramirez (Greys Anatomy).
Fourteen years ago today, Monty Python officially came to Broadway with the opening of SPAMALOT at the Shubert Theatre! In honor of the occasion, we're looking on the bright side of life and throwing it back to the show's 2005 Tony Awards performance featuring Sara Ramirez in the role that won her a Tony! Check out the footage below to find your grail!
