General Director and CEO Deborah Sandler today announced the next production of Lyric Opera of Kansas City's Explorations Series, Mack The Knife is The Man I Love: A Weill-Gershwin Cabaret which will feature the songs of George and Ira Gershwin and Kurt Weill. The 2018-2019 Explorations Series performance, with musical direction by Mark Markham and stage direction by Fenlon Lamb, will showcase the Lyric Opera's Resident Artists, including Kaylie Kahlich, Kelly Birch, Joseph Leppek, and James Maverick, plus Apprentice Artists Ruby Dibble, Jonathan Ray, and Armando Contreras. The performance will be held February 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lyric Opera's Michael and Ginger Frost Production Arts Building.

Award-winning music producer and writer, JEFF ROUGVIE, known for his work with David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Big Star, Morphine and others, will release a new comic book series, GUNNING FOR HITS, teamed up with artist Moritat (The Spirit, Harley Quinn, Hellblazer).

Bay Street Theater and Dan's Papers are pleased to announce the rekindling of the popular Fireside Sessions with Nancy Atlas returning Saturdays at 8 pm in January. Pete Muller, who has performed his winsome combination of jazz, folk and pop everywhere from the Montreux Jazz Festival to the late, great Caffe Vivaldi in Greenwich Village (where he was a longtime resident artist), will be in concert at the Rockwood Music Hall Stage 3 in New York City on December 12 at 7:00pm.

February 8 will see the release via the venerable Bar/None label of Songs From Robin Hood Lane and From Memphis to New Orleans, two thought-provoking looks at an often overlooked period of Alex Chilton's long, curious career.  He was at the height of his cult star fame in the mid 1980s to mid 1990s when he made these recordings. It is some of his best most honest work oddly neglected for some time but delivered here for enthusiasts and neophytes alike. All these recordings have been out of print for decades.

The Nocturne Live concert series, which returns to Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire next June, has confirmed pop superstar Kylie Minogue as headliner for the closing night on Sunday 23rd. The chart-topping Australian singer will perform hits from across her back catalogue, as well as music from latest album, 2018's country-tinged Golden. Support will come from multi-million-selling Sophie Ellis-Bextor, whose new album The Song Diaries will be released in January. Amazon Prime Video today announced it will premiere a Christmas episode of its hit kids series Pete The Cat on November 20 in the US and UK. Pete The Cat: A Very Groovy Christmas features all-new Christmas music from iconic singers Dave Matthews and Jason Mraz, among others. Based on the popular book series, Pete The Cat: A Very Groovy Christmas features the voices of Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Jessica Biel, and Jacob Tremblay.

The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP) explores the sound of the pipa alongside familiar European repertoire with works of Mozart and Dvo?ak. These works for strings by master composers are followed by a traditional Chinese tune arranged by COP's own Dirk Brosse. The Pipa is showcased alongside the Chamber Orchestra's sound in Lou Harrison's Concerto for Pipa with String Orchestra. Wu Man will also first introduce us to the instrument by playing a solo piece for the Pipa in the intimate setting of the Perelman Theater.
