BroadwayWorld caught up with music and film producer Spencer Proffer to discuss The Day the Music Died: the Story of Don McLean's 'American Pie,' the new 'American Pie' musical that he is developing for a Broadway future, and how he is working with Stephen Schwartz on a new documentary.

Don Graham, a music promotion pioneer who started his lengthy career in the early days of Warner Bros. Records, A&M, Blue Thumb, and United Artists in the 1960s, died Thursday evening, July 7, 2022 of stomach cancer at the age of 87.  He was surrounded by his family.

With a narrative running deeper than a catchy tune and cryptic verses, “American Pie” is a musical phenomenon woven deep into the history of American culture, entertaining audiences around the world for over 50 years. In THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED: THE STORY OF DON MCLEAN’S “AMERICAN PIE,” McLean will share the secrets behind his iconic song.

The MV Concert Series has added new shows by Grammy winners, soul icons, folk legends and some of the top artists touring the country. The new additions to an already thrilling summer lineup include Grammy half of farmers Blind Boys of Alabama and Don McLean as well as Grammy winner Ani DiFranco.

Fury, who will take on fellow Brit Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium on April 23rd live on BT Sport Box Office, famously performed 'American Pie' after defeating Deontay Wilder in Fury v Wilder II in 2020. The song has since become synonymous with the boxer who is not afraid to showcase his musical talent.

McLean will also be featured on Talk Shop Live, Monday, April 11 at 3 PM ET to discuss his upcoming children’s book “American Pie: The Fable” which will be released on June 7.
