Hal Luftig Announces the Launch of BROADWAY BIZ Podcast

Tony Award-winning producer Hal Luftig, in association with the Broadway Podcast Network, announced today the launch of his new podcast, Broadway Biz highlighting the careers and creatives it takes to build a Broadway show on Wednesday, November 18.

Breaking: AMERICAN BUFFALO Will Now Open in Spring 2021

American Buffalo, written by David Mamet and directed by Neil Pepe, will officially open at the Circle in the Square Theatre (235 W 50th Street) on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, exactly one year after its originally scheduled opening date.

The Winners Are In for the 2020 Lucille Lortel Awards- The Full List!

Mario Cantone will host this year's Lucille Lortel Awards, which are being presented as a virtual broadcast and benefit for The Actors Fund on Sunday, May 3, at 7pm. The online event will bring together theatre performers, industry veterans, and fans worldwide in a celebration of Off-Broadway.

Breaking: THE WRONG MAN, A STRANGE LOOP & More Nominated for Lucille Lortel Awards- Updating Live!

Nominations for the 35th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were announced today by theatre veterans Jeremy Jordan and Ashley Spencer. The Awards will be presented during a special online event on Sunday, May 3, broadcast on the official website - www.LortelAwards.org - beginning at 7:00pm ET. A virtual 'host' and presenters will be announced at a later date. As always, the Lortel Awards will be a benefit for The Actors Fund and fans are encouraged to make donations at actorsfund.org/Lortel. The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League and the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation. Additional support is provided by TDF.

Full Cast of TONI STONE by Lydia R. Diamond Announced at Arena Stage

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater has announced the company for Toni Stone, written by Arena alumna resident playwright Lydia R. Diamond. Set in the 1950s, Toni Stone was the first woman to play baseball in the Negro Leagues, also making her the first woman to play professionally in a men's league. Against all odds, Stone blazed a path in the male-dominated sports world, shattering expectations and creating her own set of rules.

Limited Number of Specially Priced Tickets to AMERICAN BUFFALO Will Be Made Available

To celebrate the upcoming revival of David Mamet's American Buffalo, directed by Neil Pepe, a limited number of specially priced tickets will be made available on Thursday, February 20 at the Circle in the Square Theatre box office (235 W 50th Street). These one-time only prices are commensurate with the cost of a ticket to one of the play's previous productions, including the 1977 world premiere staging where American Buffalo received the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best American Play.

Manhattan Theatre Club, Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer); Daryl Roth and Cody Lassen; in association with Vineyard Theatre have announced the full company for the Broadway premiere of the Pulitzer Prize-winning How I Learned to Drive - written by Paula Vogel, directed by Mark Brokaw. Tony Award® nominee Johanna Day, Alyssa May Gold, and Chris Myers join previously announced stars Mary-Louise Parker and David Morse.

The Shed Will Open Its 2020 Season with the World Premiere of Claudia Rankine's New Play HELP

Help, a new play examining white male privilege by acclaimed author and poet Claudia Rankine (Citizen: An American Lyric, The White Card) and directed by Obie Award-winner Taibi Magar (Is God Is, Soho Rep), makes its world premiere and launches The Shed's 2020 season on March 10 with performances through April 5 (previews begin Tuesday, March 10 and opening night is Saturday, March 21). Commissioned by The Shed and performed in its Griffin Theater, Help stars Roslyn Ruff (Theater: Fairview; Film: Marriage Story; TV: Divorce, Pose).

Huntington Theatre Company Announces Creative Team For THE BLUEST EYE

Huntington Theatre Company announces the award-winning creative team of Huntington Playwriting Fellow Lydia R. Diamond's (Stick Fly on Broadway and the Huntington, Smart People at the Huntington) stage adaptation of Toni Morrison's first novel The Bluest Eye. Ms. Diamond's stage adaptation of this profound piece of American literature by the Pulitzer and Nobel Prize-winning author will be directed by one of American Theatre's a?oeTheatre Workers You Should Know,a?? Awoye Timpo (In Old Age at New York Theatre Workshop, Good Grief at the Vineyard Theatre). The Bluest Eye begins performances at the Huntington Avenue Theatre (264 Huntington Avenue, Boston) Friday, April 24, 2020 and runs through Sunday, May 24, 2020.
