Lincoln Center Theater has announced that it will inaugurate PRIVATE REELS: FROM THE LCT ARCHIVES, streamed recordings of outstanding LCT productions in their entirety, as part of its LCT Spotlight Series. PRIVATE REELS: FROM THE LCT ARCHIVES will kick off on Thursday, March 18 with Christopher Durang’s VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE.
Lincoln Center Theater’s LCT SPOTLIGHT SERIES will continue on Thursday, March 25 at 7pm with “Looking Back at CONTACT,” LCT’s 2000 award-winning musical. Featuring the production’s director and choreographer Susan Stroman; writer John Weidman; and original stars Boyd Gaines, Seán Martin Hingston, Deborah Yates and Karen Ziemba.
Over the course of each Broadway season, unexpected and unique storylines inevitably pop up. This morning, with the announcement of the 2019 Tony Award nominations, a number of new narratives have come to life.
In the year 2000, the face of Sean Martin Hingston became quite familiar to New Yorkers; not just theatergoers, but the average Joes and Janes who traversed the city via public transportation. Susan Stroman's innovative CONTACT was playing at Lincoln Center and its ads were blazoned on every bus, taxi, and subway billboard. The artwork featured the ravishing Deborah Yates as 'The Girl In The Yellow Dress being pursued by the forlorn-looking Boyd Gaines. Looking on was the menacing presence of Sean Martin Hingston. The image remains in the memories of almost everyone who saw it.
