PRIDE AND PREDJUDICE (SORT OF) opens tonight at the Criterion Theatre in London’s West End.  The cast of Isobel McArthur’s unique and audacious retelling of Jane Austen’s classic love story created a special video to celebrate opening night.

Isobel McArthur’s unique and audacious retelling of Jane Austen’s classic love story was critically acclaimed when it played at Glasgow’s Tron Theatre. Men, money and microphones are fought over in this irreverent but affectionate adaptation, which includes pop classics such as Every Day I Write the Book, Young Hearts Run Free, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, I Got You Babe and You’re So Vain.

Theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) has secured licensing rights to the West End, UK and European stage musical sensation, The Band, by Tim Firth and featuring the songs of Take That.

From its first run at Glasgow’s Tron theatre in 2018, and its 2019 UK tour, writer and co-director of Pride and Prejudice* (sort of) Isobel McArthur’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s iconic novel is retold by five young female servants with Georgian petticoats: all wearing marigolds and Doc Martens.

Olivier and Tony Award-winning producer David Pugh has announced that he will be presenting the Tron Theatre Glasgow, the Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh and Blood of the Young's production of Pride & Prejudice* (*sort of) by Isobel McArthur after Jane Austen at the Criterion Theatre for an open-ended run.

Charlie Chaplin will now be played by Danielle Bird, joining Jerone Marsh-Reid as Stan Laurel, Nick Haverson as Fred Karno and Sara Alexander playing all the other parts, including Chaplin's mother, and the piano! 

Rose Theatre has announced it is reopening its doors once again on 27 June 2021. Following three national lockdowns, the Rose is reopening to the public with a series of summer shows and events, including The International Youth Arts Festival by Creative Youth from 1 July 2021 and more.

David Pugh, the renowned theatre company Told by an Idiot and Theatre Royal Bath Productions present Charlie & Stan created by Told by an Idiot, written and directed by Paul Hunter.  It will open in Bath on 14 July and then play the Minack Theatre, Cornwall from 1 August.  Further dates prior to the West End are to be announced.

Beloved stylist Alecia Nugent is set to guest host two, 30-minute episodes of Country Fix. Episode 321 premieres today and will air throughout the week; episode 322 will begin broadcasting next Monday, October 5 and will run through Sunday, October 11.

Following the huge success of the run in August at the Minack Open Air Theatre, the acclaimed 40th anniversary production of Willy Russell's EDUCATING RITA is coming back from Wednesday 28 October.

My recent visit as a first-timer to this much-celebrated space was to see Educating Rita - a truncated version of the David Pugh production that was due to tour the country, pre-COVID.

Patricia Hodge and Nigel Havers will lead a UK Tour of Noel Coward's PRIVATE LIVES. This will be the inaugural show for The Nigel Havers Theatre Company, which will be touring the country with a wonderful line-up of theatrical gems. The plan is that the UK Tour of PRIVATE LIVES will begin at Theatre Royal Bath on 1 October 2020.

A new musical adaptation of Enid Blyton's Malory Towers is heading to Storyhouse during Summer 2020.

David Pugh will present Emma Rice's critically acclaimed musical adaptation of Enid Blyton's Malory Towers, originally created with Wise Children. This new production will be co-produced with Theatre by the Lake, Keswick, where the production will open on 27 March 2020, before going on a national tour, concluding at Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall, where it will play from 27 July to 31 August, with national press performances on 31 July, 1 and 2 August.

David Pugh and Theatre by the Lake have announced that their highly acclaimed production of Willy Russell's EDUCATING RITA, which toured the UK earlier this year, will have a 40th anniversary production in 2020, once again touring the UK and starring Stephen Tompkinson as Frank and Jessica Johnson as Rita.  The production is directed by Max Roberts.
