Singer Susan Mack debuts her new solo show 'Music In The Air' at the Birdland Theater for the fall season.

Susan Mack's 'Music in the Air' celebrates the profound power and magic of music in our lives through jazz standards of composers including Porter, Jobim, Berlin, and Corea. Susan will share her joy in their 'forever music' - bringing a contemporary spin to the dancing, romancing, and loving that music inspires.

Surrounded by the modern design sensibilities of the Birdland Theater, Susan Mack spent a Sunday night taking the audience back in time. With a 16-song setlist comprised of jazz classics from the early-to-mid 20th century (with a few more modern songs up to the 1980s), Mack's 'Music in the Air' was meant to be a celebration of the impact of music as it surrounds us in our day-to-day lives. At one point joking that, with everything else that's been in the air of late, music is a good thing to be touched by, Mack interlaced the songs with some explanations and a few hints at her life behind the curtain.

I’m happy to report that SUMMERTIME SWING! is perfectly on-brand. Mr. Feinstein delivers some finely crafted gems from the Great American Songbook with his trademark energy and showmanship. I have seen Feinstein mostly in larger venues, and so the surprising element in this show was to see how intimately he engaged his audience in the cozier quarters of 54 Below. It was truly like being invited into his home. He had some expert help with the party. Mark McClean on drums and David Finck on bass are fantastic musicians. Tedd Firth on the piano was positively on fire in his creativity. The trio was a jazz lover's dream. It is a delight to hear musicians of this caliber do what they do.

Eder's ability to blend a tight belt with an operatic trill as easily as she breathes makes for one heck of a thrill. I could highlight any two or three songs, and they would have been a pair of the cleanest, most tightly rehearsed pieces one could see. Eder's songs aren't the only thing that's great. Her shows are great.

J. Mark McVey's reference point was Broadway (mostly) with some bombast, with a band and guests, while Alexis Cole showed that less can be more with relaxed, classy jazz stylings.

The Tedd Firth Trio started January 2019 off in true genius form with a week of performances for their debut at the Birdland Theater on West 44th St. in NYC.
