Entering its fifth year, JPWG welcomes five artists performer and songwriter Migguel Anggelo, composter and vocalist Trevor Bachman, comedian and performance artist Becca Blackwell, jazz musician and composer Yacine Boulares, and singer-songwriter Treya Lam as the core group that represents the diversity and scope of the nightly programming at Joe's Pub.

Artistic Director Mark Yonally and Chicago Tap Theatre (CTT) presents Sweet Tap Chicago Sunday, March 10 at 3 and 7 p.m. at The City Winery, 1200 W. Randolph St.  Sweet Tap Chicago is a celebration of Chicago musicians and music, with all new arrangements by Kurt Schweitz, a live jazz quintet featuring rapper/singer/host Taylor Mallory and tap dancing.  Musicians and bands to be covered include Chicago, Smashing Pumpkins, Chaka Khan, Curtis Mayfield and more. Doors open one hour prior to start time and the running time of the performance is one hour and twenty minutes including one short break. Late last year, Australian pscyhe-pop band Methyl Ethel announced their forthcoming album, Triage out next month on 4AD. Today, they share the single and accompanying video for 'Trip The Mains.' 'It's got a sharp, '80s new wave-ish backdrop, but main member Jake Webb brings it into the now with a catchy vocal performance that fans of MGMT and Phoenix might dig,' said Brooklyn Vegan. Webb says of the track, 'behind every eye-twitch, a depleted mainframe barely pulses. 'Trip The Mains' is my moment of short circuiting.' The video features Webb suspended in time, defying the laws of gravity, and crashing into beds in this abstract fantasy directed by Matt Sav.

Producers Anita Greenspan and Tony Hawk with Executive producer Adam Zotovich announced today that a new musical adaptation of the 2007 Nick Hornby novel, SLAM, is in development. This new project will feature a book by Tony Award Nominee Kyle Jarrow (SpongeBob SquarePants the Musical) with music and lyrics by Mark Mothersbaugh (prolific film composer, co-founder of new wave band Devo). Pro-skater Tony Hawk, who is featured as a character in the novel, is a producer on the project and is slated to develop skate choreography.
