Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, announced today that Nancy Griffith Baxter will serve as the organization's new Director of Development, bringing with her more than 30 years of experience in fundraising and wealth management with a deep understanding of philanthropic strategies.

Pasadena Playhouse, State Theatre of California, continues their exciting partnerships with Caltech Theatre and the USC School of Dramatic Arts this Spring, with MACH 33: The Caltech|Pasadena Playhouse Festival of New Science Driven Plays, presented by Caltech Theater and Pasadena Playhouse May 9 -11 and the New Works Festival Year 3 May 17-18, presented by USC School of Dramatic Arts and hosted by Pasadena Playhouse. Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, announces the Los Angeles premiere of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's Good Boys, directed by Carolyn Cantor. The production is Aguirre-Sacasa's fresh and revisited look at his previous work, Good Boys and True (world premiere, Steppenwolf Theatre Company), and will play from Wednesday, May 29 through Sunday June 23; the press opening is June 2 at 5:00pm.

Directors Lab West, under the direction of steering committee members Che'Rae Adams, Ernest Figueroa, Janet Miller, and Diana Wyenn, has announced its 20th annual conference for early and mid-career stage directors and choreographers.   Since its founding, over 600 directors and choreographers have participated in the Lab's week-long explorations of cutting edge thinking for the modern stage, including prominent artists such as Vincent Paterson, Marc Bruni, Lissa Wolpe and Gregg Daniel.  Hundreds of prominent guest artists have volunteered their time over the years to speak with Lab participants including luminaries such as Jack O'Brien, Randy Newman, Tonya Pinkins and Jason Alexander.  For full lists of past alumni and guest artists, please visit www.directorslabwest.com.

Director Cameron Watson is about to receive the Milton Katselas Award for distinguished achievement in direction from the LADCC for 2018. Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California is extending its an all new version of Ragtime: The Musical through Saturday March 9.  With strong critical acclaim and audience reviews, performances have already been selling out.  Six more performances have been added March 5-9.

Pasadena Playhouse - State Theatre of California is announcing the return of the Playhouse Block Party, in partnership with the Playhouse District Association, after last year's blockbuster inaugural event.  This all-day event, free to the public, is from 12-noon to 10:00pm on Saturday, June 8 on El Molino Ave. at Colorado Blvd.  There will be more than twenty performances on two different stages - a Main Stage and a Family Stage -- during the course of the day, in addition to activity booths hosted by some of Pasadena's most celebrated arts organizations, theatre tours, a silent disco, and more.

 Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, presents Ragtime: The Musical.  One of the most ambitious projects ever produced at the Playhouse, Ragtime: The Musical is written by Terrence McNally, and composed by Stephen Flaherty with lyrics by Lynn Ahrens.  It is directed by David Lee and will be performed Tuesday, February 5 through Sunday, March 3, 2019.  Press opening is February 10, 2019 at 5:00pm.

It is coming to rattle audiences in Pasadena just in time for Halloween, with all the stage wizardry that has led audiences in London to shriek in fear for over 28 years.

IAMA Theatre Company will present three premieres and forge new partnerships in 2018-19, the company's 11th season.

Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, is presenting Native Gardens, a new comedy by Karen Zacarias and directed by Seinfeld's Jason Alexander. The production runs September 5 through 30 at Pasadena Playhouse; the press opening is September 9.
