Last night (Jan. 1, 2017), the Las Vegas Company of the smash-hit musical ROCK OF AGES took its final bow at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino after a rockin' four-year run on The Strip.

'Rock of Ages' star Mark Shunock's March edition of 'Mondays Dark' took place on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 8:30 p.m. at Body English Nightclub inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Following the success of last month's tribute to the rock band QUEEN, 100 percent of the ticket proceeds from this week's show benefits the Shine Family Foundation and featured the music of 'The '80s - Unplugged.' Special guests included, the 'Rock of Ages' band Arsenal, Chris Phillips and Lydia Ansel of Zowie Bowie, James Mulligan, Tina Dawn from 'Absinthe,' Elise Furr from 'Jubilee,' illusionist Mark Bennick, Anne Martinez and Savannah Smith of BBR, Geechy Guy from 'America's Got Talent,' and Becca Kotte and Jason Oles from 'Rock Of Ages.' Other red carpet Vegas headliners in attendance included hypnotist Anthony Cools and celebrity magician, Murray Sawchuck, both of whom have performed at previous Mondays Dark events. AMERICAN IDIOT is an absolute blast, a musical filled with energy and exuberance, both evidenced in the music and in the performances. There will surely come a time when it's considered a period piece, since it does take place in the recent past, focusing on the last Bush presidency and the wars on terror at home and abroad that consumed it. But it's still timely at this point, because people are still fighting overseas, and a lot of the same social and political issues remain unresolved. It's essentially Green Day lead singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong's vision filtered through director Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening), who cut a lot of the book they wrote together to make this more of sung-through musical experience. This focuses our attention on Armstrong's lyrics, and they're strong and pointed enough to make this approach work like a charm. And, like Spring Awakening, the band is on stage and the lighting is positively eye-popping.

Some special guests were attending the Sunday, September matinee of THE TOXIC AVENGER. Actor TONY PLANA who plays Betty's (AMERICA FERRARA) father on the ABC-TV hit 'UGLY BETTY' was there with his wife, actress ADA MARIS and their daughter, ISABEL (PLANA). Actress ANITA GILLETTE (who appeared in FLAMINGO COURT at New World Stages) was also there. So, all made a bee-line backstage to pay a 'between show' visit to the cast and band and to tell them what a TOX-A-RI-FIC time they had!

Diana DeGarmo, Season 3 'American Idol' runner-up and Broadway vet has returned to the New York stage where, on Friday, August 14th, she assumed the role of Sarah, the sexy, blind librarian in The Toxic Avenger - named the 'Best New Off-Broadway Musical' by the Outer Critics Circle.

Following the August 3rd performance of The Toxic Avenger, legendary bass guitarist Tony Levin, best known for his work with progressive rock pioneers King Crimson and Peter Gabriel, as well as for his playing on hundreds of albums including Cher, Alice Cooper, John Lennon, Stevie Nicks and Lou Reed, paid a backstage visit to meet the cast and band. He posed for photos and even signed the bass guitar of Dan Grennes, the show's bass guitarist. Rock on!

The Tom Kitt Band, led by Next to Normal's Tony-nominated composer Kitt and featuring Damien Bassman, Michael Aarons, and Dan Grennes, will appear at The Bitter End on Monday, June 1 at 10:15 pm. The concert will also feature guest performances from Broadway performers Will Chase, Jenn Colella and Rachel Stern who all starred in Kitt's first Broadway musical, High Fidelity.

Fresh from her performance in the Off-Broadway hit Jack Goes Boating, Daphne Rubin-Vega and her band have joined The New York Musical Theatre Festival's first-ever Broadway Battle of the Bands competition on Friday, May 18 at 10:00pm at The Zipper Factory, 336 West 37th Street in Manhattan.
