BWW Previews: THE 21ST CENTURY VOICES: NEW PLAY VIRTUAL FESTIVAL SPOTLIGHTS MENTAL HEALTH at American Stage

For two weekends, January 15-17 and January 22-24, theatre patrons will be treated to four staged readings of new and original plays curated from over 200 submissions on American Stage's Virtual Stage. The 21st Century Voices: New Play Festival, now in its fifth year, features virtual live-streamed productions coupled with post-show discussions with the playwrights, and mental health clinicians, panel discussions, wellness workshops, and community conversations about mental health.

Negro Ensemble Presents A Virtual 10 Minute Play Competition in October

On Friday, October 9 at 8:00 PM, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (NEC) will live stream the second installment of its NEC Zoom Short Play Series, 'This World Was Made for All Men--And Women,' a ten-minute play competition to be live streamed from Contra Studios, 122 W. 26th Street, Manhattan. 

New Manifest Theatre Company Promotes Inclusive Storytelling With MANIFEST MANIFEST

New Manifest Theatre Company brings its second annual short play festival, Manifest Minifest, to YouTube on September 24 - 26, 2020. In addition to four short plays, this year's lineup features educational workshops from playwrights Idris Goodwin and Kristiana Rae Colón. Registration is free, but donations are welcome.

The Creative Co-Lab's: INAUGURAL LIFT EV'RY VOICE INTERNATIONAL PLAYWRIGHT & SPOKEN WORD FESTIVAL 

Bryan-Keyth Wilson and The Creative Co-Lab will present the Inaugural LIFT EV'RY VOICE International Playwright & Spoke Word Festival. This is an online theatre/ poetry festival, showcasing the work of diverse global artists. In a time where black/ brown voices and stories are essential. The Creative Co-Lab wants to use this platform to showcase the voices not often heard. This festival is free to watch all over the world. 

HERE WE GO ZoomFest Returns June 14th

HERE WE GO is back again with their second ever 24 hour ZOOM festival! This now monthly series kicked off earlier in May and showcased the work of 23 emerging artists. The first edition featured 5 plays that were written, conceptualized and performed all within 24 hours by creative teams that only met at the start of the short time period. Each creative team had to produce a piece that was site-specific for the ZOOM platform following in HERE WE GO's signature site-specific festival format.

BWW Review: HAIR at CenterStage At JCC

If you imagine a new production of the classic musical Hair will be a cozy, nostalgic revel in hippie culture you are partly right. But Hair was created as a bold and provocative statement of the counter culture to the establishment, and director Frank Goodloe's take on the material is faithful to both the stylistic and intellectual aesthetic that lies at the heart of the show.
