Dear Readers, let's set the way-back machine to May of 2005 when a musical theater geek got to take his first trip to New York and see his first Broadway shows on Broadway. He sat there in Circle in the Square and marveled at a new William Finn show called a?oeThe 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Beea??. Now this was during its previews so not a lot of buzz on it yet, which made it even more special, as he got to experience its greatness as it unfolded. He laughed, he cried, he fell in love with this silly little show. Obviously that geek was me. Since then I've seen numerous productions here and abroad. The show is a staple of musical theaters as it's inevitably a winner. I wouldn't say it's bulletproof but it's bullet-resistant. As long as you have a decent cast that can have fun playing kids, you're good. But few have taken me back to that original moment and evoked the tears at the end or from one particular song a?? until now.

Keen Company Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein today announced the cast for the first play of the new season, Keen's 20th: Paul O'Brien, Pamela Sabaugh and Tommy Schrider will star in Brian Friel's Molly Sweeney directed by Mr. Silverstein.

Brown at the helm, Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill by Lanie Robertson gets a three-week run Oct. 18 through Nov. 3.

BroadwayWorld has learned that real-life married couple Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker will come to Broadway in Neil Simon's Plaza Suite following an out of town run at Boston's Colonial Theatre - where the 1968 production also originated, before a 17 week run on Broadway at the Hudson Theatre with previews set to being in March. The production will be directed by John Benjamin Hickey.

Mason and directed by Lovell Holder, had the largest audience yet for The Circle Series, a staged reading series hosted at  Circle in the Square Theatre The Circle Series is a brand new reading series that presents new and developing work on Circle In the Square's Broadway stage, home of the Tony-winning revival of Oklahoma! Inspired by work like Tony Kushner's A Bright Room Called Day, Lavender Men is a daring historical revisionist tale told through an experiemental queer lens. The reading played to a packed house on Monday, August 24.

The Circle in the Square's Monday night Circle Series resumes September 9 with Ladies In Waiting. The staged reading series, which is open to the public, benefits Circle in the Square Theatre School through donations made by audience members at the door. 

It was a banner year for the cutting-edge ensemble of artists led by Founding Artistic Director, Jonathan Judge-Russo. Animus Theatre Company is gearing for an equally exciting Fall 2019.

Members of the cast of Oklahoma! appeared at Barnes and Noble to celebrate the show's cast recording release with an in-store performance and signing on August 22.
