Hailed as a dream team of performers, longtime musical collaborators and friends, violinist Joshua Bell, cellist Steven Isserlis and pianist Jeremy Denk, will unite this spring 2019 for their first-ever trio tour stoping at The Soraya on May 8. The three artists will perform hallmarks of the trio repertoire in acclaimed venues across the East and West coasts. Though Bell, Isserlis and Denk have previously released the landmark 2016 recording For the Love of Brahms together on Sony Classical, these performances mark the first occasions in which they will tour live as an ensemble. The Brahms album has been praised as Absolutely essential listening for the classical fan well-crafted, flawless killer stuff.
In a fitting conclusion to an historic season, on Sunday, May 12 at 3 PM, the Chamber Music Society of Detroit returns to Orchestra Hall, its home for more than 20 of its 75 years. Four of America's most exciting young string quartets the Attacca, Catalyst, Dover and Harlem Quartets are joined by master pianist Leon Fleisher, who will perform Mozart's K. 414 Piano Concerto plus music of Bach. The program also includes a world premiere by Jessie Montgomery, plus the Mendelssohn Octet performed by members of all four quartets switching off for different movements in a game of musical chairs.
Concord Jazz and Live Nation are proud to present the 50th Anniversary Concord Jazz Festival, to be held on Saturday, August 3rd at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California. 2019 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the festival, which began at a city park in 1969 and gave birth to the venerable Concord Jazz label. Hoff-Barthelson Music School's Annual Benefit Concert, the School's largest fundraising event of the year taking place on Sunday March 31, 2019, will feature 2019 Grammy award winner John Patitucci and his Jazz Trio. The concert will include special appearances by advanced HBMS jazz and chamber music students. The event will be held in the main sanctuary of the Westchester Reform Temple in Scarsdale.
