Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts has announced the presentation of Soundtrack '63, May 1 at Alice Tully Hall. In this live musical documentary created by Soul Science Lab, audiences have a front row seat to a multimedia and musical retrospective of the Black experience in America from pre-transatlantic slavery to the present day. Performed by a 9-piece orchestra, vocal ensemble, and emcee, the production couples archival media of pivotal moments throughout Black history with a soundtrack of spirituals, protest songs, and popular music. As a live performance, it brings intergenerational audiences on a historical journey from the 17th century to present day and illuminates their role in creating substantive social change. Soundtrack '63 educates, inspires its audience, gives context to present day injustices, and asks important questions about our future.

Carnegie Hall today announced that boundary pushing hip-hop duo Soul Science Lab will perform Make a Joyful Noize on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in Zankel Hall. Commissioned by Carnegie Hall as part of its 125 Commission Project, Make A Joyful Noize explores the affirming and unifying experiences that uplift the human spirit in the face of oppression. The immersive production blends sound and multimedia using music, affirmations, projected images, spoken word, and dance to celebrate unapologetic Black joy as a healing force for cultural resistance.

Three New York City-Based Musical Groups to Perform in Zankel Hall as Part of the Musical Explorers Family Concert

On Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., three vibrant New York City-based musical groups will perform in Zankel Hall as part of the Musical Explorers Family Concert, an interactive experience celebrating music from around the world. The performance features cumbia with Gregorio Uribe, Armenian folk with Zulal, and hip-hop with Soul Science Lab. Free pre-concert activities are offered one hour prior to each performance, preparing parents and children to sing and dance along with the artists.

Carnegie Hall's Fall FAMILY DAY Celebrates Storytelling Through Music, 9/23

On Sunday, September 23 from 12 to 4 p.m., children and families will have the opportunity to take part in free, interactive musical activities as part of Fall Family Day in Carnegie Hall's Resnick Education Wing. This musical open house celebrates storytelling, with master storytellers and acclaimed musicians coming together for a variety of fun activities throughout the day. Children will have the chance to contribute to stories through music, dance, and visual art, as well as build and perform on their own storytelling sticks. Families will also get an introduction to film scoring and learn how a soundtrack can affect the mood of a story. The day will be highlighted by high-energy performances from hip-hop duo Soul Science Lab. Admission is granted on a first-come, first-served basis, and families are welcome to drop by for a visit or stay throughout the day for a musical adventure of their choice.
