When Nina enters her first air guitar competition, she thinks winning will be easy. But as she befriends a group of charismatic nerds all committed to becoming the next champion, she discovers that there's more to this art form than playing pretend; it's about finding yourself and performing with raw joy. Airness is “unmitigated pleasure... filled with dignity and delight” (Chicago Reader). Airness is a regional premiere co-production with Keegan Theatre. The production will transfer from Keegan to 1st Stage and begin performances on December 5 at 1st Stage's theatre space.

Philadelphia Theatre Company Opens Curtain To Season Selection Process With SEE & BE SCENE

Following the successful run of A Small Fire, with Bebe Neuwirth, Philadelphia Theatre Company next focuses on the season selection process. The company welcomes audiences to its annual See & Be Scene, a one-night only staged-reading showcase, on Monday, December 2 at 7:00 pm. Now in its third year, Producing Artistic Director Paige Price is looking to add a selection of comedies and musicals into the mix. Eight works will be showcased.

'What does air guitar teach us? Everything we need to rock, is already inside us' is a line that the character of Golden Thunder delivers midway through this fun and fresh play. For the company's 45th season, Producing Artistic Director Paige Price and Managing Director Emily Zeck are excited to welcome two-time Tony and Emmy Award winner Bebe Neuwirth to star in their season opener, the Philadelphia premiere of Adam Bock's raucous, funny and unexpectedly touching A Small Fire.

The Kilroys Launch 5th Annual THE LIST 2019

The Kilroys, an independent, Los Angeles- and New York City-based playwrightdirectorproducer collective, announced their 5th annual THE LIST 2019 of industry-recommended new plays. THE LIST serves as a resource for producers and theaters committed to gender parity. The Kilroys have partnered with the New Play Exchange to provide interested parties fast and easy access to THE LIST plays.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 11 awards granted from their Frank Young Fund for New Musicals(formerly known as the National Fund for New Musicals), and six awards granted from their Innovation & Exploration Fund.

Bebe Neuwirth Joins Philadelphia Theatre Company's 45th Anniversary Season

Philadelphia Theatre Company kicks off the 2019-2020 season with a bang. For the company's 45th season, Producing Artistic Director Paige Price and Managing Director Emily Zeck are excited to welcome two-time Tony and Emmy Award winner Bebe Neuwirth to star in their season opener, the Philadelphia premiere of Adam Bock's raucous, funny and unexpectedly touching A Small Fire. The play is set to run October 18-November 10, with Opening Night on October 23. The company also announced that Sarna Lapine will make her local directing debut. Subscriptions are on sale and start at $48. Single tickets will go on sale August 1. Subscriptions are available at the box office, online at philatheatreco.org or by phone at 215-985-0420.

TINY HOUSES to Bring Big Laughs to Cincinnati Playhouse

Can tiny equal happy? World-premiere comedy TINY HOUSES explores this question beginning May 4 in the Shelterhouse Theatre as four young adults attempt to build a 200-square foot home. With support from The Rosenthal Family Foundation, season sponsor of new work, the play runs through June 2. Opening night is May 9.

Little did my newly immigrant grandfather know that when he went to build 'shacks' in the city by the bay, that he would be part of what has recently become a new trend-building 'Little Houses.' He constructed many 200 square feet or less temporary homes, some of which became permanent residences.
