MTC's BELLA BELLA Starring Harvey Fierstein Begins Performances Tomorrow

Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of Bella Bella, written and performed by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Casa Valentina, Torch Song, Hairspray) and directed by Kimberly Senior (Disgraced, The Niceties), begins performances tomorrow at MTC at New York City Center a?" Stage I(131 West 55th Street). Opening night is set for Tuesday, October 22.

BWW Review: HARRY CONNICK, JR. - A CELEBRATION OF COLE PORTER at Durham Performing Arts Center

This holiday season, three-time Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Harry Connick, Jr. will be headlining a one-man show celebrating the work of composer/lyricist Cole Porter for a limited run on Broadway. Recently, he played a premiere engagement at the Durham Performing Arts Center this past weekend. I got to be in attendance for the very first performance on September 21st, and now I give you my review.

Harry Connick, Jr., the celebrated singer, musician and actor will premiere on Broadway in his strictly limited, brand-new show HARRY CONNICK, JR.a?"A Celebration of Cole Porter, honoring one of America's most respected songwriters with performances beginning December 2019 at the Nederlander Theatre, with additional ticket information to be announced soon. This all-new production is conceived and directed by Harry Connick, Jr. with scenic design by Beowulf Boritt and Alexis Distler, projection design by Beowulf Boritt and Caite Hevner Kemp and lighting design by Ken Billington.

BWW Review: Lerner & Loewe's PAINT YOUR WAGON Is Pure Gold

Few people seem to be familiar with Lerner & Loewe's Paint Your Wagon. Those who are usually mention the 1969 film of the same title, starring Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood, known for being a ridiculously miscast and embarrassingly terrible flop. The musical, which originally appeared on Broadway in 1951, is similarly messy, and has gone pretty much unproduced for decades. Fortunately, however, playwright Jon Marans has redrafted the book, top-to-bottom, enhancing both the story line and its characters, and the result is a shiny-new masterpiece with new orchestrations and new dance and vocal arrangements. It is now an entirely enjoyable musical, complex in its structure, with an interesting setting, compelling plot, nuanced layers, appropriate social commentary, and characters...

BWW Review: THE IMMIGRANT at GSP Touches Your Heart and Soul

As a home to great theatre, George Street Playhouse has done it again. 'The Immigrant,' a production that is relevant, inspirational, and entertaining, is now on the New Brunswick stage.
