REDWOOD Comes to Portland Center Stage

This October, Brittany K. Allen will star in the world premiere of her play Redwood at Portland Center Stage at The Armory. In Redwood, a young Black woman's relationship with her white boyfriend is thrown into turmoil when her uncle's exploration of their family's lineage reveals that her ancestors were enslaved by her boyfriend's ancestors. Guided by a hip-hop dance class chorus, this singular American story is about finding a way to live and love in a present that's overpopulated with ghosts.

ENSEMBLE STUDIO THEATRE (EST) announces its 2019/2020 season. The season will commence in October 2019 with the world premiere of GEORGIA MERTCHING IS DEAD, a new play by Catya McMullen(Agnes) and directed by Giovanna Sardelli (Describe The Night), presented by EST's Youngblood (Graeme Gillis and RJ Tolan, Co-Artistic Directors) and Radio Drama Network (Melina Brown, President).
The Lark Announces 2019-20 New Voices Fellows

The Lark has announced that playwrights Xavier Galva and Ife Olujobi have been selected as the recipients of the 2019-20 New Voices Fellowship, supported by the Jerome Foundation. This year long residency is designed to support extraordinary playwrights of color under 30, in order to to help address the lack of inclusion of early career playwrights of color in the field. The Fellowship includes a cash award of $15,000, plus a $3,000 Opportunity Fund for the purposes of research, travel, or other expenses, as well as access to The Lark's artistic resources and support. The New Voices program is part of a portfolio of Fellowships at The Lark, which aims to engage a diverse community of playwrights from around the world, at various places in their careers.
MTC Announces Full Cast For CONTINUITY

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) are pleased to announce the complete casting for the world premiere of Continuity, the new play by Lortel and Drama Desk Award nominee Bess Wohl (Small Mouth Sounds, American Hero) and directed by Tony Award nominee Rachel Chavkin (Hadestown; Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812). Hope-aholics Initiative Sends Over 2,200 Students to GLORIA: A LIFE

Over 2,200 students have seen GLORIA: A Life, the groundbreaking play about activist and icon Gloria Steinem, thanks to the generosity of Hope-aholics. Named for Steinem, who coined the phrase, the Hope-aholics initiative allows donors to underwrite student tickets so that the next generation of activists can take inspiration from her story. Launched in October 2018, the program has raised over $66,000 in donations in under five months.

Tony Award-winning producer Daryl Roth (Kinky Boots, The Normal Heart, Indecent) announced today that GLORIA: A Life has rescheduled its Saturday, January 19 matinee performance in order for the company to join the Women's March on NYC. A performance has been added on Sunday, January 20 at 7pm. The production will perform as scheduled at 8pm on Saturday, January 19.
