Theater Latté Da (Peter Rothstein, Artistic Director; Elisa Spencer-Kaplan, Managing Director) has announced the cast of MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, the cult classic with music and lyrics by the acclaimed composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth.

Stephen Sondheim, a Titanic force in the modern musical theatre, will be celebrated by Theater Latté Da and Crooners Supper Club with a unique concert experience in two parts, “Celebrating Sondheim,” curated and directed by Theater Latté Da's founding artistic director Peter Rothstein.  

Theater Latté Da announced today THE GHOSTLIGHT SERIES, five virtual cabarets launching January 2021. The virtual cabaret series will feature more than 40 Minnesota artists showcasing stories and songs delivered monthly beginning January and running through July 2021.

Latte Da's CHICAGO spotlights two leading ladies battling for the ultimate in fame, so what's more appropriate than giving a double-dose of 6 Questions & a Plug? Buckle up and follow along as these two actors share the spotlight.

Theater Latte Da is justly famous locally for high quality intimate takes on the American musical. This time, they've done their best to erase all division between audience and actor, creating the feel of a 1920s speakeasy in their 240 seat proscenium space. Full disclosure: I don't much like CHICAGO as a show (largely because it strikes me as so deeply cynical, plus I'm not a big Fosse/Verdon fan) but I can't fault this production in the slightest. If this is your thing, you'll love it. With its inherent critique of egregious lying in order to stay in the media spotlight so as to avoid justice, it's topical, too, I'd say.

Winner of three Tony Awards including Best Musical, A Little Night Music features a book by Hugh Wheeler with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Theater Latte Da Artistic Director Peter Rothstein directs the production with Music Director Jason Hansen and choreography by Heidi Spesard-Noble. Theater Latte Da's well-cast production of Sondheim's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC is gorgeous to look at and sweet on the ear. Like many great musicals, it depends on the master narrative of romance, but in Sondheim's hands that narrative gets a wider treatment than usual: not only are some of the lovers well beyond their ingenue years, but the characters are also by turns cynical, nostalgic, randy, anguished, manipulative, ecstatic, and resigned.
