The Blue Hill Troupe, New York City's only philanthropic musical theater group, will kick off its 96th season with The Mystery of Edwin Drood, a crowd-pleasing interactive whodunita?'based on Charles Dickens's final, unfinished novela?'that invites the audience to help solve a hilariously madcap murder mystery. One audience member in particular may have a distinct advantage: the show's composer, lyricist, and book writer, Rupert Holmes (honored with Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Score of a Musical when the show premiered on Broadway in 1985), who will attend the show at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, and give a talk-back following the performance.
James Clements and Sophia Frank have announced that they are remoutning their multi-media performance project, MEDEA/BRITNEY, four years on from its public debut in 2015. Clements and Frank will return as Co-Producers on the project, along with Pablo Calderón-Santiago. Clements will re-imagine the show as both writer and director, along with his co-creator, Frank, who will once again play the two titular characters. Filmmaker, photographer and performer Calderón-Santiago will design all technical and production elements. The re-imagining of MEDEA/BRITNEY will be presented as a Mainstage Production as part of FringeClub at the Nuyorican Poets Café, 236 E 3rd St, New York, NY 10009. Performances will take place on October 14th-16th at 7.45pm. FringeClub is part of the New York City Fringe's 2019 BYOV festival. Tickets will go on sale in the coming weeks.
Cirque du Soleil is excited to add two weeks of performances of VOLTA's upcoming Los Angeles engagement. The show will be presented under its signature Big Top at Dodger Stadium, 1000 Vin Scully Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012 January 18 to March 8, 2020. Cast members from the original Broadway and First National Touring companies of Saturday Night Fever are marking the 20th anniversary of the show's opening in New York by gathering in Times Square on Saturday, October 5th, 2019 at 7 pm.
