Starkville High School and International Thespian Troupe 1180 presents Freaky Friday, with special arrangement with Music Theatre International.

The winning plays, The Last Ship to Proxima Centauri by Greg Lam, In His Hands by Benjamin Benne, and Rx Machina by Caity-Shea Violette will be workshopped and given digital readings in the 32nd Annual Little Festival of the Unexpected over three weekends in March and April, starting March 12, 2021. The digital workshop performances are free and open to the public with registration.

FREAKY FRIDAY, presented by the SCERA’s nationally award-winning high school performing team, Acting Up!, is a cut above the average high school performance. It is a vivacious, thoroughly enjoyable production on any level.

ACT (A Contemporary Theatre) of Connecticut has announced the theater's anticipated return with next season's line-up of production

North Raleigh Arts and Creative Theatre (NRACT) has announced the upcoming production of Disney's Freaky Friday written by Bridget Carpenter with music and lyrics from Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey. Freaky Friday is based on the beloved 1972 novel by Mary Rodger and the hit Disney films.

Hailed as “a remarkably strong and diverse exploration of everything opera can be in the city (The New York Times),” the New York Opera Fest celebrates its fifth season with performances by 20+ local opera companies in all five boroughs of New York City.

Silhouette Stages has announced its mainstage shows for its 17th Season (2020-2021) bringing you three classic, family-friendly tales of transformation: a mother and daughter experience life in each other's shoes, a chorus girl becomes a Broadway star, and a servant transforms into a princess. New Camerata Opera will present the New York fully-staged premiere of  Barnum's Bird at (Le) Poisson Rouge, a live music venue located in Greenwich Village. This opera, composed by Libby Larsen with a libretto by Bridget Carpenter, debuted in 2001. It tells the story of famed operatic soprano, Jenny Lind, and her American tour with P.T. Barnum in 1850. Barnum's Bird is also an extraordinary vehicle through which to gain insight into one's own experiences as a lover of art and a consumer of entertainment. Performances will be held on May 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th at 7:00pm (doors open at 6:00pm).

Porchlight Music Theatre announces the cast and creative team for the Chicago premiere of Disney's Freaky Friday, A New Musical, April 10 - May 24, 2020 at The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Street. The musical comedy about a mother and her daughter who switch identities stars Cory Goodrich as 'Katherine,' the mother, and Maya Lou Hlava as Katherine's daughter 'Ellie.'

Bringing their fall programming to a close with a finish worthy of the big top, producers Circle in the Square Theatre School (Paul Libin, President; Susan Frankel, COO), Pigasus Institute, and Rachel Shuey present The Circle Series staged reading of Barnum's Bird: A Musical Extravaganza! The Story of P.T. Barnum and Jenny Lind. 

Read to Me by Brendan Pelsue is open for reviewers Friday, October 25 at 7:30 pm. Read to Me is a poignant story about a child with a terminal illness who connects delicate moments in unusual ways. Discovering the mysterious a?oePostal Service,a?? he sends messages to the world and awaits a response. This poetic play, created through magical realism, reveals the quiet ways in which we connect. 

Over the past eight weeks, The Circle Series has brought the theatre community together on Monday evenings to explore developing works and celebrate the classics in a new way. Concluding their first slate of staged readings, producers Circle in the Square Theatre School (Paul Libin, President; Susan Frankel, COO), Pigasus Institute, and Rachel Shuey will present three readings of developing works in October that each explore an historical figure in their own way. The readings are held at Broadway's Circle in the Square and are open to the public. Admission is a suggested donation of $20 for adults and $10 for students and seniors, with all proceeds benefiting Circle in the Square Theatre School.  

Producers Aged In Wood Productions (Robyn Goodman and Josh Fiedler) and Kumiko Yoshii have just announced that Tony Award-winner Christopher Ashley (Come From Away) will direct the Broadway-aimed Working Girl, with music and lyrics by Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award-winner Cyndi Lauper and book by screenwriter and playwright Bridget Carpenter ('11.22.63' and 'Friday Night Lights').

'Indecent,' by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel, opened on June 9 at Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre. Directed by Rebecca Taichman in a co-production with Huntington Theatre Company, the Tony Award-nominated 'Indecent' will run through July 7, 2019.
