Two years after an historic fundraising telecast and the start of a groundbreaking grassroots movement, Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) will return to primetime television on September 10, 2010, at 8PM EDT & PDT / 7PM CT, with a star-studded appeal to build continuing public support and donations for cutting-edge cancer research that translates at a rapid pace from the laboratory to treatments and technologies that benefit patients.

Accordig to Variety, an array of other Hollywood stars have signed on for the fundraiser, including: George Clooney, Gwyneth Paltrow, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Billy Joe Armstrong, and Renee Zellweger.

Joining ABC, CBS and NBC, FOX will donate one hour of live simultaneous commercial-free primetime for the nationally televised September 10th fundraising special, to be broadcast from Los Angeles. Additionally, VH1, HBO Latino, TV One and G4 have agreed to air the SU2C event. They join HBO, Discovery Health, E!, MLB Network and The Style Network for an historic evening to raise much-needed funds for groundbreaking cancer research.

NBC News will be combining its communications, marketing and promotion arms into one department, NBC News Marketing and Communications. The announcement was made today by Steve Capus, President, NBC News. Lauren Kapp, most recently VP NBC News Communications, is being promoted to SVP, Marketing and Communications to oversee the new unit. In this newly created role, Kapp will be given the additional responsibilities of overseeing NBC News marketing, promotion, and brand strategy.

NBC News and MSNBC have been honored with five national 2010 Edward R. Murrow awards, more than any other network. The national and local winners were announced today by The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and will be presented at the RTDNA awards dinner New York on October 11, 2010. During the week, 'Nightly' saw 7.526 million total viewers, +595,000 more than ABC 'World News,' 6.931 million and +2.082 million more than CBS 'Evening News'" 5.444 million. Nightly News was retitled on Wednesday due to pre-emptions in western markets for coverage of the NHL Finals. World News was coded as a breakout on both Tuesday and Thursday due to coverage of the NBA Finals. Season-to-date, "Nightly" leads "World News" by +1.083 million total viewers.

'NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams' was the most watched network evening newscast for the week of May 31 - June 6, 2010, according to Nielsen Media Research data. During the week, 'Nightly' saw 7.672 million total viewers, +754,000 more than ABC 'World News,' 6.918 million and +2.561 million more than CBS 'Evening News' 5.111 million. All three newscasts were labeled as specials on Monday for the Memorial Day holiday and are not included in the weekly or season average. Additionally, ABC 'World News' was retitled on Thursday due to preemptions in western markets for coverage for the NBA Finals.
