Ucross and The Blank Theatre today announced the five finalists for the second annual Ucross + The Blank Theatre – Future of Playwriting Prize, a one-of-a-kind award for young playwrights nationwide.

Loft Ensemble in North Hollywood is set to present the fourth production of its ninth anniversary season, Branwell (and the other Brontës): An Autobiography Edited by Charlotte Brontë by Stephen Kaplan.

The world premiere of COLOROPOLIS, written by A.P. De La Caridad, directed by Travya Santos Gatz and Tor Brown, opens this Friday, February 11 at 8pm and runs through Sunday, February 27 only at Loft Ensemble, located at 11031 Camarillo Street in North Hollywood, 91602. Here is my interview with the talented trio on their vision for the production and the process of bringing it to the stage.

The Blank Theatre is now seeking submissions from playwrights 19 years of age and younger for its 30th Annual Young Playwrights Festival. Submissions must be made online or postmarked by March 15, 2022.

Directed by Bree Pavey and Marc Leclerc, the cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Biniyam Abreha, Ben Anderson, Bahasi Chapman, Jennifer DeRosa, Gillo Giustolisi, Barbera Ann Howard, Judy Marcelline, Matthew Monaco, Hayley O'Toole, Austin Rapp,and Sarah Siverson.

Directed by Danielle Ozymandias, the cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Tor Brown, Madylin Sweeten Durrie, Carlos Gomez, Jr., Matt Lorenzo, Natasha Renae Potts, and Matthew J. Tucker.

The season will focus on conservation and recovery, as Loft is one of the few NoHo Arts District theatres to make it through the pandemic. The season's theme is de novo — anew, from the beginning. 

Due to popular demand, Loft Ensemble in North Hollywood has announced four additional performances of the world premiere of Code Pink by Adam Chambers & Jana Lee Hamblin (with additional writing by the cast).

Loft Ensemble’s first live mainstage production since the lockdown of theatre CODE PINK will world premiere July 10, 2021. Co-written and co-directed by Adam Chambers and Jana Lee Hamblin, CODE PINK’s cast features:  Bahasi Chapman, Nicole Craig, Britt Crisp, Madylin Sweeten Durrie, Sydney Jenkins, Matt Monaco, Ignacio Navarro, Bree Pavey, Leesie Pinto, Natasha Ranae Potts, Sarah Siverson, Sarah Sommers and Vel Stacy. Adam, who is also Loft Ensemble’s co-artistic director, managed to find some time to answer a few of my queries amidst juggling Loft Ensemble responsibilities, daddy duties and band rehearsals.
